Define Mooryaan

Post by Sir-Luggoyo »

No offence to the resident ones but this TITLE have been misinterpreted, misconstrued and misused until it became something appealing to some narrow minded individuals and/or minors and lost it's real meaning, hence, glorified.

Who is a Moryan?
Where does he hail from?
What are the traits he earned that title with?
Who are his victims?
Is it genderless -can women become Moryan?
What is their background?

Who in this forum would you classify as genuine Moryan?

Sir

Indeed, a very good question sxb. If you ask anybody who happens to be daarood, (or even isaaq) he/she will tell you mooryaan is anyone who is hawiye. It doesn't matter whether he's politician, businessman, ciyaal xaafada, or even a sheekh sxb. To them, anyone who is not ciyaal tuulo or resides in Mugadishu is mooryaan. If you ask anyone else, (apart from those two group of people) you are more likely to get the correct definition of the word. The correct definition of the word mooryaan is a bandit or a brigand....one who lives by pillage and robbery, a freebooter, a rapist..etc.

But since some have chosen to label any reer xamar (like myself) as mooryaan, the meaning of the word has become more controversial. Dadkaan qaar xarafka mooryaan micno kale ee u yeeleen. Since as you said some people have "misinterpreted" the meaning of the word mooryaan sxb, i'm going to give you my definiton of this "very debatable" word sxb.

Mooryaan = geesi = wadani = ina libaax san ka taabte = laba xaniinyood

Mooryaan = fearless = stout-hearted = courageous = brave = intrepid

You don't expect me (or any good reer xamar person) to regard 'mooryaan" as someone bad or evil when some ignorant bastards classify everyone who resides in xamar (or happens to be Hawiye) as bandit. Don't blame me, blame the motherfuc-kaz who are drawing a wrong inference from the word itself.

All i know is--the name Moryaan was recently born--out of the civil war in Somalia.The bandits of the lawless Xamar where mostly the bandits were Habar Gidirs --who were in power.But generally the name reflected the entire Hawiya clan eventually.

Sir Lug ---I hope you are not trying to 're-define' the word Moryaan for the sake of your reer abtii or close HG friends. Laughing Laughing Laughing
