Spare parts... you gotta stick with Toyota's or otherwise you are screwed. The land cruiser ones are pretty good.GAMES wrote:Why is't all White Toyota hatchbacks? And can you import a Right Side American cars into the country?

Re: Cars in Somalia.
True, but it seems like Somalis need to diversify. I have nothing against Toyota since they make reliable cars, but there are also manufactures that make nice cars.
I did see an American SUV onetime though, so it was probably an import.

Spare parts eh, makes lot a sense. It would probably be good idea to invest in Dealerships/Auto repair shops in couple of yrs.

95% of cars back home are Japanese reason being its easy to get parts and other modifications. Try taking an audi or a subaru luxury car and see what a local mechanic would say

Well, Toyota cars are usually
very reliable with low running cost. It's relativity simple
too most mechanics know to handle it. I know a women who
imports "taks taks" and cars to export it to Somalia.
Aishah, Honda's are reliable too, especially the power trains.
But the downsides are the high standard/basic price compared to other brands,
expensive spare parts and cheap interior. Not to mention it's hard to sell later.

As gas prices continue to go down and more Somalis return home from Dibadaha, this is a good time for Auto related investments.
Auto Insurance is now being offered to some drivers in Mogadishu, i hope its rolled out nation wide.

If i am not mistaken, i believe there use to be a FIAT assembly plant or something before the war. Or maybe it was in the drawing boards.
I believe only few African countries have the capability of doing something like that.
