I was circumsized by an inexperienced women as a child.
And now the inexperience became apparent, and I have because of this psychological and physical problems.
My question is: is it possible to circumsize a grown up?, im over 20 I have not beenĀ Married). And i think its possible but I don't know enough about the cultur to know for sure.
Im too embarrasset to ask those questions the people I know face to face
Even if it was possible to fix it here in the West,i don't want to (dont think it is possible either)

Shying away from your problems won't make them go away. FGM is a horrible practice and its good thing that Somalis everywhere are becoming aware of its physical and psychological problems, therefore communities are ever more understanding and empathetic with FGM sufferers than before.
since I am not wearing your shoes I can't fathom the great deal of struggle you are going through, but I have some outsider idea and let me tell you, again...Face it..Talk to someone you trust, someone you think might be understanding...Kaligaa ha is ciilin.
You might have concerns regarding aesthetics and sexual technicalities, but remember, Somali men are non-judgmental and very accepting to FGM (some still encourage this awful practice) and even many prefer their brides to be FGM...in la guday..
There are many medical solutions to address FGM including surgical procedures to limit future complications that may arise and consultation for the psychological impact. For instance liaison with experienced Gynecology and obstetrics specialist before attempting pregnancy or even before your first sexual experience, He will examine you and offer you many options such as surgical reconstruction or other simpler surgeries to conserve as much as possible and limit future complications.
But why don't you want to fix it? I understand you are embarrassed, but you shouldn't be and you should help your self. On a final note, Don't underestimate the power of medicine.

The older generation, like our mothers who had FGM never sought any psycholgical or even medical treatment for that matter and turned out just fine.

I didnt know fgm was that widely practised never heard of it till them somalis addressed it in media. Anyway dont shy away from the problems as ot can get worse once you marry etc.... Aparently you can get surgery to undo the damage at a special clinic.

You want to be circumcised correctly?

FGM reversal procedure should fix your problem, ask your local GP to refer you to gynecologist.

Dear Deqa100,
I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to you.
No matter how experienced the mutilator is, nothing good can EVER come out of Female Genital Mutilation!
The altering of Almighty Allah's
Perfect Design of the sexual organs is the greatest reason for the suffering of the Somali people and the situation in our motherland.
The Somali people need to wake up! I really fear for any children that you might bear!
I don't mean to sound harsh or inconsiderate, but I
must help protect children!! I will
continue to tell the
painful and uncomfortable truth!
Many Somali females suffer silently. There are many who think that undergoing Female Genital Mutilation is a
normal part of becoming/being a woman! Many were deceived into believing that Female Genital Mutilation is a command from Allah.
Genital Mutilation is NOT written in the Holy Quran! Hold Your Children Close!!!
I strongly
urge you,
Walaal, to research the
many adverse effects of Female Genital Mutilation not only for the female, but for her babies as well. There are excellent resources and information in my thread:
viewtopic.php?f=19&t=358051
And now the inexperience became apparent, and I have because of this psychological and physical problems.
Female Genital Mutilation damages the human being on so many levels: Physical, Psychological, Emotional, Sexual, etc. The horrific effects of FGM are not limited to the unfortunate victim, but have a devastating impact on the family and society at large! Having experienced the horrific effects of Female Genital Mutilation yourself, you have a moral imperative to protect any children you might be blessed with!
My question is: is it possible to circumsize a grown up?, im over 20 I have not been Married). And i think its possible but I don't know enough about the cultur to know for sure.
I
need to ask, did you receive anesthesia when you underwent this barbaric ritual as a child? I ask this because I am baffled as to why you would want to experience this inhumanity again?!
Even if it was possible to fix it here in the West,i don't want to (dont think it is possible either)
I advise you to seek medical help right away! Some females who underwent this barbaric ritual received treatment alleviating the pain and suffering that they were going through. Help
is available, but you have to be strong enough to inquire.
Love Yourself. You could seek information online and/or by phone.
DON'T go to a traditional mutilator!
PLEASE Protect Your Children!!!

Hello
My name is Ann-Marie and I am hoping to do a research project for my Access to Higher Education Course on the implications that FGM has on birth. I would like to ask if anyone who has undergone an FGM procedure if they would be able to complete my fully non-identifiable and confidential questionnaire; the link to which is posted below.
I hope that my research will help illustrate and raise awareness of the health implications that arise from FGM practices.

Thank you very much
