Does it creep you out that our resident cadan boy James Dahl is more interested in Somali stuff than you are?

Post by BVSNet »

I went to google Agaw from his thread to get more info and I know about waaq and stuff but when I saw the search results there was a dread like oh dear lord do I have to read this?

I don't care.

But this cadan boy does, that is so annoying and creepy, am I the only one? Annoying because he shouldn't be more interested than I am in things that are related to Somalis, power to him, but seriously I should care more and him caring/showing interest highlights how I care less, what the hell!

Crab in a bucket mentality but whatevs, this is your people and your history. Acudubillah and we had the cadan studies row when there are Somalis like me out there :meles:

Am I alone in this, hopefully yes. But those who are like me, let's get together and hiss at the white guy for highlighting our incompetence at being Somali

I don't know. Maybe it's on purpose to see if not having the chatrooms increases sign-up to the singles. I wonder if it has.

Don't paint us all with the same brush. There are many of us on this forum that have a strong interest in Somali culture and history - myself included.

A lot of James' work is guess-work and induction anyway -fair dues to him though. I also have strong interest in world history, philosophy, mathematics and science. Don't make generalisations.

He might be a Somali that is in disguise so as not to be accused of bias when discussing historical matters.

James, if you are reading this thread, I am confused as to how you are able to speak Somali. Do not want to jump the gun but how do you explain this:

Take a deep breath, read the OP again.

You don't have to pretend to be anything if your evidence is sound but when working off of oral tradition that's harder to do.

Firstly, James Dahl wa rageedi  . He has interest in Somali history and people. There is nothing wrong with that. I have interest in Dominican Republic history (for good reason  ); least of which is their UN seat is two down from Djibouti's.

I won't least bit be surprised if James is either a current/former social science professor with emphasis in the Horn or a retired spook of the Somali Desk at Canada's CIA equivalent.

Secondly, Re: Chatroom, yes, fix the thing. I was in grade school or junior high when the thing was last operational. I look forward to real time feedback from some of you Xalimos. I want to see if you can hold a conversation in all aspects of life with me.

If he is white, I bet he is married to a Somali woman or something.

Sadly, we were an oral society and a historian does not have much written material to work with.

Yeah, that's probably it. I have little interest in history in general apart from fun facts type of thing. Feels like you should put your personal preferences aside and step up to the plate though when shisheeye are taking part. But thank God not all Somalis are like me.

I don't think so, more likely one of Jabuutawi's suggestions. Laga yaaba he is jasuus. Probably wants to be an expert and get paid shit-loads to consult when oil and mining companies come to town.

James was actually adopted to the darood marehan clan.he is an honorary member and thus enjoys full landheere priviliges.

yo,for real,James is actually active in muqdisho.i believe he runs a group highlighting corruption in the muqdisho. His interest goes far beyond history.sorry for the qarxis, jamac.

That sentence by its self is a proof that its not written by a Somali....First there is a visible effort trying to write probably contrary to the average Somali, starting with capital letter where appropriate, the question mark etc. Also "oo beesha" instead of "ee" is a grammatical error not to be committed by the regular Somali speaker, the educated one at least.
