Canada and Islamophobia

I am shocked by the Islamophobia in Canada these days, the behavior of my countrymen is shameful, and the laws that have been passed are clearly targeted against Muslim Canadians. Indeed the implied fact that C-51 and C-24 are directed against Muslim Canadians has allowed them to exist when they are unconstitutional and frankly terrifying.

The people braying this Xenophobic nonsense are otherwise decent people, but there doesn't seem to be any way to get through to them, I'm at a loss, I feel like I'm in the minority shouting into the wind. The charter rights that C-51 and C-24 obliterate can be used against virtually any Canadian for almost any reason, and yet embracing this hate and intolerance is winning Stephen Harper votes and his poll numbers are way up, and I feel despair.

How did my country get to this point?

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little."

I am guessing the good men and women of Canada have become idle.

Can't blame Canada, Islamic extremism (arab nationalism) is a dangerous ideology that hides behind beautiful religion of Islam to bring destruction to the non arab world. Canada must fight it

First why would you be shocked now? It's a conservative government that's been hostile towards muslims, muslim nations and N.G.Os that helped Palestine since 2005.

You have to be strategic with your vote. So you must check your local riding and see which party has the best chance of beating out the Conservatives. Based on that, you choose Liberal or NDP depending on which riding you live in. The goal is to defeat Harper, first and foremost.

I usually vote Green Party for their principles, but I think I'll vote NDP this time around. I don't think the Liberals can be trusted to undo the damage that Harper has done, they disagree on tactics, not strategy :(

The entire West is islamaphobic where are the Muslim westerners? They would probably put them in mental asylums smh. Keep hiding brethren.

Tough times.

We are in another cycle of religious persecution. It's interesting and sad that human beings do things over and over. Each time considering themselves more advanced than the barbarians of the past.

Voting out Conservative for Liberals is just counterproductive and stupid. Liberal party and Justin Trudeau support Bill C-51.

It depends on where you live. The riding I live in is traditionally a Conservative stronghold, and this election it appears could go to either Liberals or Conservatives. Since NDP have no chance here, voting for them just gives Conservatives another seat that can be used to secure a victory.
