Are Dir Arabs?

So, I've been reading up on Dir genealogy and came across this fact that seems to have been brushed under the carpet by the modern Dir pseudo-intellectuals. Apparently Dir's great-grand father was Ram Nag, was an Arab who landed in Zeila and intermarried the locals to give birth to the modern Dir clans. The evidence for this from what I can tell seems quite strong and it seems, until only recently for political reasons, the Dir used to proudly proclaim their Arab ancestry.

What is your take on this? I'd like to only hear the take of my own fellow native Somalis (Hawiye, D&M, Madhiban, etc). Are these people truly one of us or do they belong in Arabia like the Darod, Isaaq, Sheikhal, and other interlopers who've deluded themselves into being ethnic Somalis?
