Wither Saudi, the twilight days
Saudi Arabia is a powderkeg that will explode with the first lit fuse. The southwest, west and east have all rebelled many times but were always crushed by the Saudi forces, but if the Royal Family starts fighting amongst themselves, all those long suppressed grudges and resentments will bubble up to the surface.
In the East, the Saudi government is preparing to execute the most important Shia cleric in Arabia, and will execute his teenage nephew and display his headless, crucified corpse in the public square. The Saudi government looks the other way and allows ISIS to attack Shia mosques with impunity. Shia from Haasa loathe the house of Saud but cannot do anything, unless for some reason the Saudi army was preoccupied with something. Iran and Iraq are only a short boat ride away...
In the countryside, ISIS and al-Qaeda are allowed to establish themselves in rural areas with a wink and a nod from the authorities, while the Saudis believe they have these people under control and are their proxy forces, at a moment of weakness these guys will try and seize power.
In the southwest, the Zaydis and other Yemenis of Jizan, Najran and Asir were conquered in the 1930s and have never accepted Saudi rule, and rose up against the Saudis over their religious discrimination only a few years ago. The Houthis main base is just over the border...
Hejaz and Asir also simmer with resentment against the house of Saud, who demolish their sacred cultural inheritance to build five star hotels and shopping malls, and have gone after the native Sufi traditions and Shafi'i madhab tradition in Hejaz and Asir with as much persecution and discrimination as ever they went after the Zaydis in the southwest or Shia in the east.
The looming battle between the Sudairis and all other Saudi royal clans, if it kicks off, will light the fuse on this powderkeg.

Re: Wither Saudi, the twilight days
I don't think the world would let that happen especially the Muslim world nor can we handle the aftermath, The Saudis hold 1/4 of the world's Oil, so the economic crisis would make the world respond and protect the house, Muslim countries would send their Militaries to defend Saudia. If Kuwait was defended by 54 nations and rhe world supported them, with 7 percent of the globes oil, and Sauds have a Coalition to Fight Houthis in yemen and support the government. What you think of Saudi Arabia.
I think they should protect minorities and their heritage, and defeat extremism.

The muslim world would get involved in a saudi civil war?
what have you been smoking my friend..
no we will watch them and say good riddance.
the US will be worried, they are still needed to prop up what remains of the petrodollar,
till contingency plans kick in,
the US married to the house of saud and would do anything to save it

Re: Wither Saudi, the twilight days
Shia in gulf countries can't do anything. they are minority and very small in numbers. for example bani khalid alone from eastern region of saudi arabia are bigger than all shia in the country, plus the ones in bahrain and qatar combined.
but i believe kingdoms of gulf countries are in loosing position not because of shia or iran, but because their people are lost hope of them.
fyi shia in south saudi arabia are not zeydi, but ismailiya.
