Somalia and Djibouti have agreed with Saudi Arabia in order for Somali women to be able to work as maids in Saudi Arabia. Usually no Citizens of Union of Arabic countries can be recruited as maids. Indonesia has banned to send anymore women as maids to Saudi Arabia due th the abuse and once the ones there finish their contract, will be returned. Am expecting news within the year of Somali women being killed and abused on the news.

An advice they should heed well. But when you have no other prospect in your own country, belly is empty and demands from family is too much, what other option do you have?

This would be a non-issue if Sharia Law was in place. Ban any woman from travelling/living overseas without a Muxram and the problem is solved.

Sharia Law or No Sharia, becoming a maid in. Saudi House hold or for that matter any Arab household will be putting ones life at risk. I just cannot fathom the incompetency of the governments of Somalia and Djibouti. Even a nation such as Pakistan which is not Arab does not allow its citizens to be recruited as maids. I think once this news gets out into the Somali Diaspora and media all hell will break loose. No Somali mother should ever be going to hell that is Saudi Arabia. This is a nation which has 20,000$ private tent's fully furnished and services at the Hajj for the wealthy when Hajj is suppose to be about being modest and equality for all.

It is nothing new in Saudi Arabia. In the 80's plenty of Somali women went there to work as maids but it will get far worse now due to Buufis, chaos in the Fatherland and a desire by some young women back home to be financially independent or help out their destitute families.

Basically what Osob101 is saying now agents working for maid recruitment agencies are going to pop up in Somalia, promising riches to Somali girls. These bilaa dhiigs will pimp out Somali girls to Arabs and make a killing, including the corrupt Zoomalian government of course.

If you want to see how these Arabs treat maids, search up news stories about Ethiopian, Indian, Bangladeshi etc maids on Youtube or Google. They regularly decapitate (yes, behead) maids every single week in Saudi Arabia. They rape and whip them with impunity. And this is with countries that have some sort of functioning government and influence and are mostly Muslim maids. Imagine how little a Somali life matters for them?

Wallahi I will never forget this story. An Ethiopian maid was trying to escape the abuse of her Arab masters. She ran to the Ethiopian embassy when the Arabs caught her. They beat her right in front of the Ethiopian embassy and dragged her back into a car. She committed suicide after this by jumping from her master's apartment. I cannot handle reading this about Somali women.
