I thought Somalis were moving forward from clan divisions and petty hatred. Today the war going on in Gaalkacyo proved to me once and for all how bad the Somali situation really is.
I am not proud to say this, but I have finally thrown in the towel and I am now officially ashamed to be a Somali!

Re: Ashamed of my people
Since we watched from the sidelines when famine killed over 350,000 Somali Muslims while Somali warlords prevented the food aid from reaching those starving Somalis, we've been people who live with a shame in everyday that goes by!
Re: Ashamed of my people
Oh c'mon, its just a little fight. Somalis have always fought each other over little things.
Don't let this lil dagaal dampen your mood.
Waa iska caadi.

You're too naive and stupid to think that Somalis have put their differences aside. No genuine reconciliation has taken place and I'm not sure if any reconciliation whatsoever will ever fix the deep rooted qabyaalad between Somalis.

Nothing to be ashamed of. If you could go back 200 hundreds yrs ago, you would find that Somalis back then were also doing similar thing. Dagaal is part of Somali society. La qabso

Somalia has more history than just 200 years ago. There have been various sultanates and ancient civilizations that were very advanced in Somalia and the Horn of Africa. So perhaps you should be a little bit more optimistic.Siciid85 wrote:Nothing to be ashamed of. I am ashamed of what we have become, and how far the hatred has taken us. I have always been aware of the animosity between Somalis, but it seems like they will never learn.26June1960 wrote:You're too naive and stupid to think that Somalis have put their differences aside. Also why the need to insult?
