Very detached from reality. There is little truth to women collectively being an illogical bunch. I don't know which woman watches this and sees herself or her friends, sisters, aunts etc

Just another negative stereotype men perpetuate that contributes to the larger oppression towards women. Not funny at all. :)

Walaal, with the utmost respect and the highest esteem...are you a  feminist by any chance?

Still we won't give up on you.

Feminism is a broad movement & spectrum of different ideas. It depends on your definition of what a feminist is.

I have noticed though, the feminist label is often used to as a cop out, when the actual matter at hand isn't being addressed. Truth is there is definitely misogyny and patriarchy embedded in our own culture.

It is present when women are told to stick with their no good husbands who is beating them because "iska sabar" as if sabar means to live through oppression. It is present when older women tell brides "gabar baa guri dhista ama dumiso" absolving men of any onus. It is present in the "gabar guri ama god hakuu jirto" mantra. It is present in the countless times women are excluded from partaking in the running of the masjid affairs, as if they don't represent 50% of the community the masjid is supposed to serve.

I don't feel the need to ascribe to any "-isms" and feminism is no different in that regard. However, as with any culture you are exposed to it is from our tradition, to take from the good of it and leave the bad.

Feminism, is merely a tool for me, rather than a goal. Specifically, it is a language to express the unfavourable prevailing attitudes present in our culture, which has no Islamic basis and favours men, which I believe should be rectified. If that makes me a feminist in your eyes, I can sleep soundly with that label. :)

P.S What do the French sentences part mean?

If you have an arrogant wife, I advice you to take a second wife and that should do the job and teach her Adab.

Barakallahu Feek walaal. Of course you're right and I'm just trying to stir something up.

The words are from a song...and that part there means "do not let her down/leave her alone, she's vulnerable...to be an emancipated woman, you know it's not so easy"
