Their are pretty much non existent and are roman catholics. the 40.000 of them left after independence and only 1000 stayed. All of the of the 1000 left around 1986 when the rebellion began. A extremely few old colonist stayed but they last one dead in the late 00s. And all most every italian who stayed after independence were either mulattoes or aid workers very few were old colonists who were there for generations. Most of them spoke somali and practiced somali culture. The ones who left before the independence barely even know or remember about somalia or don't care

How come no one have assimilated into Italian during colonialism? Almost all of the African countries speak either French, English or Portuguese and even have it in their official language today but all four Somalia, Eritrea, Libya and Ethiopia who have been under Italian colonization is not.

Djibouti is the only one in the Horns who speak French and have France as their official language.

Explain this logic. :?

There are almost no Italians in Somalia. They would be stupid for staying in a fourth world country when Italy (especially Northern Italy) is very rich. There are about 7,000 Somalis in Italy.

The older generation of educated Somalis (people in their 50s, +60s etc) largely do speak Italian.

However, it has died out with the younger generations because the education system that used to promote Italian was reformed and ties between Italy and Somalia watered down over the years.

They use to stay mogadishu, jowhar, jamame, jilib, afgoye all the southern region but now they live in diaspora just like the somalis abroad. there is alot people from mogadishu that mixed with Italian back then the mulatos they have all been somalinized and live in the diaspora.

I bumped into old italian guy in ohio who use to stay in xamar he was sending money back xamar to his love xalimo he was sugar daddy he talked in somali too he cracked me up at the xawalad.

The educated ones in somalia use to write and talk in italian and somaliland elites use to write and talked in english so to unify the somali republic both had to relearn the somali language which was written with latin alphabet in order both sides to understand each others written documentation.
