Senegal- The MARAQ version

Post by Arcturus »

- Population 13.5Million
- 196,712 km2
- GDP $26.574 billion
- Relatively one of the Most stable countries in Africa, were the people are progressive and peace loving.

First independence 04 Apr 1960 from France.

On 4 April 1959 Senegal and the French Sudan merged to form the Mali Federation, the federation achieved total independence20 jun 1960. The merger was conceived prior to their independence and each state gained independence on different dates. Their merger became legal when French Sudan gained independence 20 jun 1960. By 19 Aug 1960 Mali mobilized its army and following a single day of stand-offs, Senegal unilaterally withdrew from the Union 20 Aug 1960.

The Sudanese republic rejected the Dissolution of the Union, cut off diplomatic relations and defiantly changed their name to Mali.

The Senegalese desire to dissolve the Union began 15 Aug 1960 by 19 Aug 1960 they unilaterally declared independence. By mid Sep 1960 most African countries recognized Senegal and Mali as independent states even though Mali was rejecting the unilateral dissolution . By Late Sep 1960 They were both accepted as members of the United nations.

The failure of the Mali Federation served as a lesson for all other Africans who may have had unionist ideals. The Unionist in Mali continued to pursue their ideals and turned their goals to the unification of West African countries. Mali would continue to refuse any diplomatic relations with Senegal until 22 jun 1963.

Both Countries have the same ethnicity, language diversity, history, culture and religions, Both countries were even colonized by the same country FRANCE. They have more in common then any other two countries on EARTH.

Mali
- population 16million - More population than Senegal
-1,240,192 km2 - 6.3 Times more land area than Senegal
- GDP $13.245Bilion - Half the GDP of Senegal
- Relatively among the most unstable countries in Africa with Terrorism taking a strong foothold. Principally one could argue that it's leaders have invested far more effort in external political objectives and have failed to establish the foundation of a viable nation state. The national resources and psychi have been squandered on the delusional grade projects of external policies rather then the nations foundations. It can also be said that Mali upon independence never experienced a period of sovereignty, it emerged out of colonialism and on the same day it entered into a Union with Senegal who had enjoyed a brief moment of self-recognition, self-reflection, self-appreciation. Senegal made a conscious choice and with the sound mind to decide to enter a relationship with another state, it was that self-recognition that would later assist Senegal in unilaterally dissolving the Union. It was also that lack of SELF-IDENTITY that enraged Mali and it's people to reject Senegal's departure, It is that discontinuity which has been forced on Mali that is making it impossible for it to establish a nation state. It's people feel cheated and they believe they have been forced to accept an amputation on their State, the only state they know since their independence and for the foreseeable future they may limp on without ever investing in the NATIONAL-SELF for fear of loosing that too.

It is phenomenon worthy of intense research as the behavior defies COMMON SENSE and LOGIC.

The question one MUST ask is; why did the unionist member Mali initiate an aggressive Military maneuver that caused the DISSOLUTION?

Fear perhaps only research will tell!

Arcturus don't you think the former somali republic union between somaliland and somalia union is more similar to senegambia union between senegal and gambia.

There is a reason why somalis only ever acknowledge the Senegambia Union.

The Senegal Mali Union highlights a phenomenon most somalis would rather not acknowledge.

In fact both Unions provide strong arguments for Somaliland's Case.

The Senemali case
- Significantly reinforces the brief-period of recognition that Somaliland enjoyed, even though Union dialogue was initiated 5-day after independence the Union did not become "legal" until 1961.
- Somaliland-Republic resigned from the union unilaterally argument is debased, since Senegal did the same and both Senegal and Mali both were re-recognized by the African Union and the United Nations.
- Somalia-Italia rejecting the Unilateral dissolution looses legitimacy since Mali did reject Senegal's unilateral dissolution. AU and Un still re-recognized both states.
- Senegal and Mali were both re-recognized even though they had severed all diplomatic contact.
- Mali persistent on it's unionist ideals has remained a failure 55years later.
- Senegal never returned to that failed Union, has entered other union and is prosperous 55years later.
- Senegal capitalized on re-recognition, while Mali will forever remain a pariah, in a Union or as an independent state.
- Union is merely a contract and the length of a STATE's independence or recognition(even if only for an hour) does not invalidate its indefinite sovereignty.
- A Union does not have the legal entitlement to override a state's sovereignty willingly or unwillingly.
- A union is only binding when both states draft an act of union approved by respective parliaments and such time as a consensus is reached on a joined act of union. The Somalia-Italia State, unilaterally passed and approved its own act of union under the premise that it was the combined and agreed act. It is where the confusion between the somali-republic(Intended Union name) and the accepted Somalia term(to represent the union) emerged. The Act of Union by Somalia-Italia referred to itself as a Somalia and Somalia's perspective on the act of union. Now since they fraudulently passed their version as the joint ACT and didn't even have the decency to replace "Somalia" with "Somali-Republic". The two names become interchangeably.
- This act of fraud invalidates any Union ever taking place, in essence the "Somaliland State" since Immortal entered a hibernation state, whereby Somalia-Italia's government with Somalilander collaborators infringed on sovereign territory from 1961-1991.
- Since the Union was invalid that negates the legal argument of Somalia to justify it's genocide attempt in the neighboring state of Somaliland-Republic, Under "Territorial integrity rules". Somaliand and Somalia have always had distinct territorial inheritances just as any two member states of any Union retain their territorial integrity. France and German as members of the EU do not loose individual territorial integrity nor can France ever justify Murdering innocent German women and children under the pretense of "Union rights" there is no such right.
- etc... i can go on

To this day that fraudulent act in 1961 is propagated by those people with vile nature. The Whole argument of Somaliland being a province and never a country stems from that fraud. From the infant Koon to the wrinkled fart Koon they share a single perspective on Somaliland "It was never a country" when in reality there was never a union. Accepting Somaliland-Republic as a Distinct state is akin to admission of Genocide. Somalia-Italia never had any legal grounds to murder civilians in Somaliland-Republic.
