Over 200 Ethiopian troops part of the African Union Peacekeeping in Somalia have been deployed to the strategic Southern Somalia port town of Kismayo, sources confirmed.

The deployment of the 250 Ethiopian forces is seen as the replacement of the departed Sierra Leone peacekeepers once based in the port town.

Sierra Leone prematurely ended its contribution to AMISOM last year at the height of the Ebola epidemic after the Somali government expressed fear over a possible transmission of the disease.

According to a local official in Kismayo who spoke on the condition of anonymity, an extra 800 Ethiopian troops deployment will take soon.

‘’Their mission will not only be guarding Kismayo but also launch operations against al-Shabaab and push them out of the other cities which they still control in the Lower and Middle Jubba regions.’’

The Ethiopian troops in Somalia have played a major role in driving Al Shabab out of several strongholds since formally joining the peacekeeping mission in January 2014.

Somalia has been racked by constant war for more than 20 years – its last functioning national government was toppled in 1991.

Any individual operating under the Command of the AU must be saluting the AU-Flag Right?

As a precedent, whenever the United Nations commands a mission the only flag permissible is that of the UN. Blag Hawk-Down only exception is when a third-party state has parallel mission alongside the main mission as was in 1993 when the USA carried it's own flag and only cooperated with the UN on minor specific objectives. Likewise Ethiopia is able to carry it's flag as everyone including the KOONS are aware it is running parallel missions alongside the Amisom Mandate.

Reality is Both the Ethiopians and the Kenya's Entered the Somalia-Italia Territory prior to ever being incorporated in the AU-Mission. If the Government in Muqdisho had any concern over sovereignty it would have ensured that only the AU-Flag is ever erected on it's soil.

1. Somalia's Federal Government is not concerned about it's State's SOVEREIGNTY
2. Somalia's Federal Government is not concerned about it's States TERRITORY (Kenya is entered territory without permission, then claimed maritime territory).
3. All we expect to see is Ethiopian claim of Somalia's Territory!

Since there was never a clarification on the Demarcation between Ethiopia and Somalia-Italia that border legally could be the Indian-ocean. Right? Wrong?

The Ethiopian troops are needed in Kismayu, Baidao and most parts of Hiiraan.

Those regions are not only strategic to Ethiopia's sovereignty, unity and security as well as economic goals (such as the Ogaden oil) but Arab terrorists wiping out Somali culture need to be defeated and wiped out.

The troops should remain in those three positions beyond 2020 and Mogadishu should be limited to in and around Banadir.

That should be the Ethiopian policy in regards to that region.

Beyond 2020 Ethiopia can negotiate with Mogadishu over the borders since Italian Somaliland and Ethiopian border was never finalized and thus remain mere Provisional Administrative Line.

The Kismayu push will allow the troops to collect intelligence on ONLF financiers, hideout or any safe haven. Then they should be pursued and even kidnaped in the same manner now happening inside Kenya. ONLf is now fully encircled with no where to hide, run or get any arms.

It is a victory day for Somali culture, Ethiopia and those opposed to warmongers and radicalism.

What difference does it make? Kenya and Ethiopia are foreigners in the eyes of Somalia so why the outrage just because they're deploying there? Are you saying Kenya is only better off there?

They both are the same under AMISOM, conduct same missions and can freely get away with crimes.
