Will Egypt go to war with Ethiopia?

The Gulf Arabs have encroached the Horns of Africa in the recent weeks. This is the first time in a very long time they exerted into the red sea especially their new bases installed in Eritrea. I have a strong feeling that Egypt will try pressure the Arabs to subdue Ethiopia in order to stop the nile dam construction instead of focusing one mission aka Yemen. Saudis meddlings can always turn messy.

Cairo fears that Adis Ababa controlling the flow will somehow allow them take advantage of the Nile countries and exploit their resources whenever they feel threatened and expand their notobility of influence in the region like how they maintain their dominance in East Africa.

Egypt and Ethiopia have had history of wars and enmity. The Egyptian media have been spreading a lot rumors about Ethiopia few days ago regarding to the nile which shows that they are still obsessed and desperate about it.

The Ethiopian Minister of Irrigation, Water and Electricity has insisted that no agreement has been reached with Egypt to store water behind its new dam on the River Nile, Rassd.com reported on Friday.

“The issue of filling the dam is part of the construction process,” Motuma Mikasa told Radio Fana. “The information released by the Egyptian media that we have agreed with Egypt to fill the dam is false.”

This is a serious statement since Ethiopia have rejected all negotiations which makes Egypt more nervous. It could attack Ethiopian infrastructures (hydro dams etc) when Iran and Saudi go to war so they can keep the world and the media distracted and focus on them on the Mid East while Egypt target infrastractures around dams.

There is no need for them to go to war it doesn't benefit them one bit, too costly and devastating for the economy, Egypt should just arm the different ethnic groups taking a page out of the Tigray play book what they done to Somalia, support particularly independence seeking groups, just like they done to Somalia this will ensure the country is never unified and every passing decade the people drift further apart & become more fervent against each other, you see examples with Ethiopia/Eritrea Somalia/Somaliland, then further divide the groups that are most nationalistic and want the unity to distract them and make them weak.

Why they haven't done it yet or have been successful shows how politically inept Arab countries are

It won't happen at this situation they are in at the moment unless if Ethiopia does something that would affect Egypt like shutting down flow (when it's completed) and demand them to pay yearly for the river or something like that which can escalate the situation.

Egypt can't do a thing after that not so secret meeting went viral. Ethiopia has the support of China, Europe and the USA. This dam isn't even funded by Ethiopia, it is funded by Italy. Egypt doesn't want to lose diplomatic ties when the threat of terrorism and war looms over their heads. Their only option was to arm rebel groups but these groups are now changing tact, transforming themselves into a legal opposition group instead of an armed faction. Egypt has no options besides negotiating with Ethiopia.

Egypt can't go war with any country now. It is on its way to permanent collapse and failure like Syria, Iraq, Libiya and Somalia. In Egypt there are Neo-Salafists, Daesh and Muslim Brotherhood all fighting for supremecy over one onother. Hence, Egypt has no hope and is doomed for ever.

All they need to do is provide monetary and material support for Ethiopia's opposition, little Eritrea has limited funds but with the help of Egypt they can severely weaken and potentially disintegrate the country if they are REALLY bent on weakening and dismantling Ethiopia. They are at their weakest in-terms of cohesiveness, the dear leader is dead and his seeds are quarreling behind doors.

Egypt has the aircraft and the refueling planes..
Ethiopias airforce does not have modern ECW equipment, and they will be jammed..

The bad news for egypt is that , Chinese personel along with HQ-9 can be setup in a matter of days.
and a simple software update, and an ECM pod on their SU-27's can be installed by Russian technicians in days too,
and for $5 million a plane and a couple of weeks will get new a radar set, and R-77's
and in experienced Ethiopians pilots will find themselves on a level playing field with experienced egyptian pilots flying F-16's

then Egypts attack changes from a walk in the park, to a real struggle..
they can achieve the mission,its till possible, but the likelihood of total disaster is more .
