Let us take a look at the demographics in Djibouti.



Since Djibouti population was almost 900000(889000) in 2010. I estimate it to be around 1 million in 2016 looking at the growth rate.



Now let us continue. This is a relative recent study compared to what I've seen thrown in this forum. People always seem to grab old colonial censuses. Well those are decades ago and you can expect a lot of change.



From here we can see that based on a report from 2003 that the population is made up of

-33.4% Issas +0,5% = 33,9% , see Refugees
-20% Afars
-15% Gadabursis
-13,3% Isaaqs
-8,3% Refugees from which 50000 Ethiopians and the rest Somali. 7,8%(Ethiopians) 0,5% (Somalis). I'll consider the 0,5% extra Issa since they moved from Ethiopia and Issa predominately live there.
-10% Arabs & Europeans


This is more than a decade old but the Ethiopian refugee population can't be taken serious cause.

At least 80% of all recorded migrants crossing Djibouti are Ethiopians with their destination being primarily Yemen and onwards to Saudi Arabia

But as I've state before 80% of the refugees are Ethiopian and just pass through Djibouti. So we can neglect those refugees. Also I've been looking through a lot of census that put foreigners( Europeans + Arabs + Ethiopians etc. at 5% in 2010-2015). Since perhaps the French left in a lot of numbers.



So the refugee count in 2015 is 1,5%

+ 5% = 7,5% ( Others (Arabs+Ethiopians+Refugees)


Keeping the same ratio the percentages will now be.

-38,2% Issas
-22,5% Afars
-16,8% Gadabursis
-15% Isaaqs
-7,5% ( Others (Arabs+Ethiopians+Refugees)





168000 Gadabuursis!

I've read about Issa in Awdal and Ethiopia moving to Djibouti
in order to have access to more services, better employment opportunities and higher standards of living.
Gudabursi and Sacad Muse making around 30% of Djibouti population make sense too but I can't comment on Afar since I don't know much.
