My Maternal Grandfather a veteran SNM fighter and Politician in Cigaal era recently visited us where I had the opportunity to ask him why is Somaliland so adamant to become a seperate country and end the union with Somalia and what was the genesis of that idea
He replied “The people (SNM) wanted to define the country in such a way that everyone can contribute and justly devide the countries resources amongst the population but when that became unrealisable, we have come to the conclusion that if you are not comfortable, you must leave. What is the point of 10 or so million chattel slaves? You are better off with 3 million who are not chattel slaves.”
Do you agree?
