Somali Merchants were a driving force in the Indian Ocean Trade

Post by inaXasan »

So I just learnt about the Indian Ocean trade and how it was the richest trading route in history but more importantly Somali merchant were one of the richest and most important drivers of this Indian Ocean trade. Chinese were the richest of all but Somali Merchants were crazy wealthy too and are said to have introduced Swahilis and Mozambiqueans (??) to this lucrative trade route founding towns like Soofala and other extinct mysterious towns in places like Madagascar, Tanzania, Mozambique etc. We should Thank these Merchants for making Somalis have diverse foods from every single place on the Indian Ocean route today.

The Silk Road (red) is very famous and everyone talks about it because it involved the Europeans more than the Ocean Route (blue) while in reality our ENTIRE modern world today was shaped by the rich Indian Ocean trade. If the Chinese emperor went with Zheng HE's plan and not build a f-king wall isolating themselves. They would've been coquered again by Nomads but definitely would have been more dominant than the West today and Somalis would've been DOMINANT in African trade and important in World Trade. but shit happened  Chinese emperor got scared of the brutal Nomads and isolated the Chinese letting the Portuguese open up for European Imperialism and suppression of our wealth and trade.

whatever happened happened and we shouldn't dwell in the Past but just imagine what could have been

Atleast Somalis are the Entrepreneurs of Africa and it makes me feel good that they are dominating Africans especially those near Somalia in trade today. For example; You won't believe how much Eastleigh has grown since 2006 despite the complete neglect of the f-king shit government when it comes to that place and you also won't believe how rich these Somali Kenyans have gotten. They're now moving in large numbers into the nicer neighborhoods that Indians and Arabs have always lived in  Somalis in Nairobi have it MUCH MUCH better than Kenyans but since Somalis don't isolate them and give jobs to them all the the Kenyans tend to love Somali more than Indians and Arabs and won't end up turning into South Africans hopefully. I would like to think this is also happening in Kampala too since Somalis in Uganda seems to like Kampala very much.

When and if we get a stable country, only Allah (SWT) knows how it could turn out but the sky is the limit for Somalis.

Somali more than Indians and Arabs and won't end up turning into South Africans hopefully.
Somali is one of the 43 tribes of Kenya and their socio-economic impact in that country is far reaching and goes waay back. Whereas they are seen as newbies in south africa. Not to mention, the south Africans have been oppressed by one the most vicious and vile group of people in the history of the world, the Afrikaners(Dutch bastards).
