Is it wrong that I feel closer to Ethiopians than I do to Somalis?

Post by Geesii »

I don't know how to to describe it, but I guess I feel more closer to Ethiopians. I'm more of a introverted type, and Somalis are generally loud, very outgoing, outspoken, very extroverted people. I like the personalities of Ethiopians, they're more like me - reserved yet friendly, quiet and dignified. I also think I look more Ethiopian than Somali. I'm a Northern Somali, and I've always felt much more related to Ethiopians than South Somalis. I'm not a self-hater, I'm proud to be a Somali, but I feel that I don't relate with Somalis.

The reason is the haba yar has no choice but be nice else the mother gets mad and angry at her should she upset one. The mother would say "naa cuniga ii dhaaf balaayo yaheey...hadaa wax aad dishid rabtid orodoo dhal"... well something along those lines. Haba yar starts of being nice and carring out of fear of the mother but as time passes begins to enjoy being nice so carrys on being nice for ever.
However the Eedo believes the child belongs to her family and is more hers as he carries her family name and the mother wont get upset at least openly should the eedo upset or smack one and mother can't say "...hadaa wax aad dishid rabtid orodoo dhal" to the eedo because eedo would reply "ala bal tan eega eeyaa you were just a vessel for our child...annakaad noo dhashey cuniga ee isdaji..." or somthing like that. So eedo then believes the child is a property of the family and hence requires tough love.

Also did you guys know that if a woman breastfeeds her niece or nephew, that her child and her sisters child can't get married ever, her nephew will become a muhram to her daughter.

That's so bad ass Mash'Allah, especially if a woman never has any sons.

Yeah, we call it اخوان بالرضاعة

If you and another person were breastfeed by the same women than you're brother/sisters.
I had an Arab friend who has plenty of breastfeed sisters "cousins" they walk around him without Hijaab.

genetically, Ethiopians are more smarty or intellectual than Somalis. In a nut shell, Somalis think with their heart, and Ethiopians with their brain. IN Gods eyes---The Somalis are blessed more. Allaah saw values the heart more than the brain. But he or she WHO balances both -is the favorite. :eat:
