Is it good idea to do background check to the woman before you get married?

I always assume wali's don't know anything about what their little princess have been up-to. Their ignorance can be astounding especially the older generation families who have no clue how western culture works. Maybe, it is better to talk to the girl and perform a through and complete background check.

Even if nervous, maybe bypass her owning like devices or asking her surroundings (friends, colleagues etc) before telling your family you agree to get married or not.

I don't want to sell my chaste to a woman who have a horrible past especially where fornication and hookup culture is rampant in Western society as it is not easy for men to forget.

It will hurt me and feel regrettable for the rest of my life if I discovered that I sold my chaste/virginity to a wife who was not chaste. Unless if I am lucky to find one back home.

Only 3 background checks are mandatory: STDs, Credit and your SODOH. STDs can kill you. Bad credit makes life very difficult if you plan to buy a home or make other major advances in your life. A bad sodoh will ruin your marriage.

As a veteran of an awful marriage I can tell you that background checks are helpful but first make sure you are not caught up in love and get perspective from outsiders: family, friends who know you well. Love is like a drug, you become incapacitated.

yep AW, i learned from you. few years ago i would disagree would you but your experiences made you realy good advicer. ive been free of debt all my life and even my credit card is attacked to my bank account so i use it only what i have in my bank account. i would loose my sleep if i owe money. i pay my bills in advanced. also make extra payment each month to just not pay any intrest.

plus i am 25 in few days, so i am concerned about my future as i am growing older. i dont want any headaches or unpredictable things. i am concerned peace of mind more and more.

Are STD checks really necessary?

In my experience, only a really tiny portion of people have STDs. They always mingle with people you don't get involved anyway.
