After examining the possible reasons behind P/L aggressive westward expansion into the eastern Nugaal valley, I was none the wiser.
That is until I had an interesting conversation with an old friend who has spent the last ten years working with Ngos in p/l.

The Togdheer river is a seasonal river that originates from the highlands west of Burco, flowing east through the Nuugaal valley to Garowe before reaching the Indian ocean at Eyle in p/l. The Togdheer river is further boosted by other seasonal rivers from as far afield as Ogo,Sannag and the Sool plateau.

To cut a long story short the land east of Garowe can, with capital investmensts, be turned into profitable farms. Furthermore, due to it's proximity to the main highway it's produce can be sold all over the north.This was the assessment of one Ngo.

P/l, like s/l, monopolizes all the ngo projects along qabil lines.....there is no way they would allow an ngo to implement such a project on Dhulbahante land.......unless they can exert control over the area.
S/L are not really bothered...they have a secret deal brokered by Gabre wich turns most of the land east of Las Anod into a buffer between s/l & p/l. It is into this buffer that p/l want to expand into.

I hope they kill as many dhulo as they want.

Quit your whining, if your folks wanted to implement projects with the help of NGOs nobody is stopping them, in fact many already do.

Although I'm not a big fan of the MJ, I';d only be bias if i were to state that Isaaqs have the upper hand.
As we all know, Isaaqs can't go one on one with the Dhulos, so lets not mention Puntland.

How about I stop the river at beer, and build a large irrigation system myself, so all you doofars can die of thirst.

Seasonal rivers enter the Nugaal valley from the Xudun district, Talex district, oogo highlands and as far away as the Sool plateau with the water shed being in the Golis range. Are you gonna build dams in these places too?
