Hunger kills expectant mother as drought ravages In Barawe
Inaa Lilaahi Wa Inaa Illeeyhi Raajicuun. We have got plenty of arable land, two rivers that run 1000's of kilometres and people still die of hunger. If this is happening in Lower Shabelle which could feed the rest of the country, imagine if droughts strike the semi-desert areas?
Hunger kills expectant mother as drought ravages In Barawe.
Hunger has claimed at killed an expectant mother in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia as drought continues to unleash severe water shortage, officials said on Sunday.
Deputy Lower Shabelle Governor Ali Nur Mohamed told VOA Somali Service that the pregnant mother died in Ambaressa village, some kilometers off former Al Shabaab stronghold, Barawe coastal town.
At least 30 other families are said to be at risk for similar fate if early action intervention is not taken.
Mohamed added that Shabelle River has completely dried up due to the El Nino induced drought in many parts of the country.
He called on Somalia Federal Government to dispatch aid to drought-stricken regions in southern Somalia.
The death marks the first in Somalia’s ravaging drought.

Ina Adeer, do you mean it is common for Somalis to die of hunger and not worthy as a news, but if they were Qataris or Swedish, people might be interested reading these rich people dying of hunger? Ma double standard of human-lives baa like the Western media? Kuma fahmin. The point is to wake those here who are obsessed with tribalism to see the bigger picture. So many points. Bal intaa aan ku ekeeyo at the moment.

Ina Adeer, what can the husband do when he himself is starving?

Allahu naxariist.
It's sad that some people have become callous and apathetic to the suffering of their own people. If our own families have not made it out of Somalia, that could have easily been any one of us.

Thanks Ina Adeer for explaining your reasoning. I'm not comfortable with people criticising how other Muslims (non-Muslims) conduct themselves according to their culture. Some like to blame our predicament anyone they could find but ourselves. The Saudis, Americans and the whole world are conspiring against them. We are innocent Somali nomads with an I.Q of an ant and anyone who feeds us, gives us weapons and tells us to massacre one another, we will do it. Let us blame them. How else could they justify or narrate that we ourselves are responsible for this anarchy. If you have a bad habit or an addiction and want to quit, first you have to admit and willing to take an action to quit. If we don't worship our jahliya clan philosophy, how can a stranger change our moral and cultural fabric and arm us to wipe out fellow Somali Muslims? Are we fools or low I.Q ants? My apology to ants because they work collaboratively and obey their leader, their queen. The buck stops with us. I've heard conspiracies that aliens are indoctrinating Somalis to give up their country to establish alien bases for military and scientific research. Every clan is now lobbying these aliens to get the most advanced weapons for s final solution to wipe their enemies out.
But also, for those who are arguing that Somalis are more religious today than yesteryears are also deluding themselves and basing their arguments on human outwardly expression like the Hijaab, beard and not their inner-self? How can Somalis be more religious today, when we are experiencing the most horrible anarchy and a dysfunctional country in our history that is created, produced and directed by us? We can't lie to Allah SWT, to the realities on the ground because we became supporters and proponents of an evil tribal ideology that destroyed and still is destroying the weakest members of our society. How can Somalis be more religious and more self-destructive at the same-time? It's a contradiction and let's look the answers beyond the hijaab, jilbaab, beards and thowbs.

Ina Adeer, what do you mean by that comment? I'm not attacking you or anyone in particular on this website, but my focus of critique is based on destructive tribalism. Sorry if you misread it.
Thanks Hyper, nicely put.
