Quebec's Bill 59

Post by gegiroor »

http://www.assnat.qc.ca/en/travaux-parl ... -41-1.html
Bill n°59 : An Act to enact the Act to prevent and combat hate speech and speech inciting violence and to amend various legislative provisions to better protect individuals.
It seems the Quebec is leveling with those who make career out of insulting Islam and other religions, and making sure hate speech can't hide behind freedom of expression or freedom of speech.

Let us hope the bill passes, so the haters who make career out of bashing Islam and persistently provoke Islam can feel the wrath of the law.

Once this bill passes, it will hopefully be replicated in other provinces in Canada, in North America, in the West, and throughout the world.

Are you saying the bill will not pass?

Fyi, Senior Trudeau, Junior Trudeau, and Chretien were all Quebeckers, and they were great leaders 8-)

If it passes, shouldn't Islamophobes be feeling the wrath of the law in the event they promote Islamophobia in Quebec? If it passes, I think it will make the work of Islamophobes difficult. Sometimes, symbolic victories do matter.

I just wonder if it doesn't amount to anything, why are Muslim religious leaders advocating for its passage?

If it is good in a legal setting, I think it will provide more ammunition to Muslim advocacy groups and other fair minded people to drag Islamophobes and haters to courts in Quebec - where it will at least generate publicity and make the lives of those Islamophobes much more difficult than it is now.

Muslims can also request the banning of Islam haters from visiting Quebec.

I think it is a good thing if this bill passes, hopefully.

Québécois crack me up . The have turned the word "tabernacle " into a cuss word , like FUCK !
Tabernacle can mean 2 things .
1.
(in biblical use) a fixed or movable habitation, typically of light construction

In a catholic church it is where the most sacred stuff is kept .
But again it also means this
2
a meeting place for worship used by some Protestants or Mormons

I like my French speaking friends

Keeping the peace, lady Tuushi

I like your vigor. 8-)

Back to the topic, I think if that law passes in Quebec and similar laws are enacted in the rest of Canada, Muslims in Quebec and the rest of Canada can make the lives of Islamophobes difficult by constantly dragging them to court.

In Murica, it is not feasible to even have something like that in red states - you know redneck dominated states; however, in places like Vermont, the home state of Bernie Sanders, Islamophobia and any other form of racism is not tolerated.

Nevertheless, we're heading there. Insha'Allah, we shall overcome the odds that are placed in font of us.
