Kudos to hergegiroor wrote:First requirement of Jim Crow Laws: Keep the population of Hispanic and African Americans down. That means sending many of the young men from these communities to prison. Who cares about justice since entire America is based on injustice. It is about maintaining population control. The white people don't want to have many kids, but at the same time don't want to lose majority.
Second requirement of Jim Crow Laws: Keep filling the prisons. This is an industry that needs to make money. Just like pharmaceutical, 'health' insurance, tobacco, and arms industry, prison lobby is as powerful as any other. That requires passing laws that are specific to certain neighborhoods - which are mostly populated by minorities - and making sure those rules are not applicable to mostly white neighborhoods. Crack cocaine laws vs white cocaine laws do ring a bell here.
Third requirement: Keep the joke jury system in place. A black or a Hispanic defendant can find himself (or herself) judged by all white racist jury, and district attorneys make sure that the jury selection is one that gives them a conviction. If the defendant does not have a good lawyer, he (or she) is already convicted before the trial even starts.
.
.
The list is long but that is the reality of Jim Crow laws.
p.s. The wive of that wrongfully convicted man is amazing. She raised those 2 kids and believed her husband and worked tirelessly to make sure he did not lose hope.
Thanks to the Jewish lawyers in that non-profit group who persistently appealed on that case and never gave up. And many thanks to the black district attorney who set that young man free. She came from the same neighborhood as he has and had the context of what is like to be from there. Sometimes miracles happen, and despite the lengthy process, justice was finally served by freeing that innocent man.
Fyi, try to visit the prisons and see the number of young Somali men in there. You will be shocked to learn that many of them were thrown to jail without a proper legal representation.
i agree, the country didnt want to pay him so they had to lock him up! those dirty bastards officers are a disgrace to human beings specially that fat prosecutors who had to resignedThuganomics wrote:Waaryaa I watched that making a murder doc sxb. That man and his nephew we're totally set up.There's no such thing as justice as far as the cops, prosecutors and even the defence is concerned and even some of the judges. They showed beyond a doubt those cops placed the key in his cabin and the blood in his car.
That prosecutor was the lowest of the low.He was a sexual predator, preying on women that were been charged for petty crimes under his watch. They even knew at the time of Avery's case but they suppressed it.BlueLion wrote:i agree, the country didnt want to pay him so they had to lock him up! those dirty bastards officers are disgrace to human beings specially that fat prosecutors who had to resignedThuganomics wrote:Waaryaa I watched that making a murder doc sxb. That man and his nephew we're totally set up.There's no such thing as justice as far as the cops, prosecutors and even the defence is concerned and even some of the judges. They showed beyond a doubt those cops placed the key in his cabin and the blood in his car.
