In the 1970s and 80s the government in somalia gave us free villas and land cruiser without doing anything for it then we came to european welfare states that provided us everything without working for it.

Confessing or Bragging? And whose land was it? Who owned it before it was "Given" to you (Because certainly my family/sub clan/clan wasn't given anything, if it wasn't taken from them, that is)?

My point is not about tribe all people that was middle class and worked for the government regardless of their tribe was given free houses and cars. That was the case in all the people I know.... and not even working hard just being a well known government supporter you got all kind of things free in the 80s we even went on abu dhabi weekend trips in the late 80s life was wonderfulAirBitaale wrote:lasanodboi wrote:In the 1970s and 80s the government in somalia gave us free villas and land cruiser without doing anything for it then we came to european welfare states that provided us everything without working for it.

My question is how did the government acquire the land it gave?lasanodboi wrote:My point is not about tribe all people that was middle class and worked for the government regardless of their tribe was given free houses and cars. Re: we somalis need to understand this is a tough world governments has always pampered us
I think this is what happened:
The government took the land from the natives, gave it to people close to the government (Nepotism.. . Hello!), when the government collapsed God sent HG to those houses.
What can I say, Karma is a b!tch.
But I am sure there are exceptions to this; there could be folks who bought their houses even though they were close to the government officials and could get their hands on houses for free.
BUT, there is also another exception to this: There are HG folks who bought their own lands instead of looting. I am a witness for this; we bought our houses, and I know a lot of people who bought their houses.
But why believe me, right? I am HG after all.

There are places that HG live in Muqdisho which wasn't a residential area in Barre era. They were open fields (Goofaf). Now they are as much populated as the rest of the city. Guess who bought that land!
