Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
They are Christian organisations - therefore it makes sense that only Christians can apply.
Instead of complaining about not being accepted. We should be thinking about
having our own NGOs (ones which do not answer to the orders of foreigners).
A lot of diaspora funded charities already exist, however there is always room for improvement.
We should also seriously start thinking about limiting the activity of foreign NGOs and their influence
in the Horn of Africa/Somali Peninsula.

abdikarim of course it makes perfect sense FOR THEM not us, it doesnt mean we should accept their modus operandi, aid in general is nothing but BUSINESS today and since we are the "cash cow" Somaliland and Somalia should set clear guidelines and rules, we will win on this with more of our people directly employed, limiting ajnaabi pedos and other unwanted elements on our soil. I favor limiting all these filthy NGOS to a bare minimum, the aid industry has been active for 50 years it's nothing but a tool for western nations to give with one hand and take with the other.
These NGOs unlike small muslim NGOs have deep straws into state pockets, often their funding is unmatched like Red Cross. We need to break them and force them to hire Qurbajoob Somalis as well as Somalis back home.
We should really ban christian NGOs the sooner the better, these often have an ulterior motive to missionate.

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
We should not accept it, we should seriously limit their activity.
The SL drought relief efforts was a good example of Somali initiated, led and executed
charitable work.
We had a national committee, regional and town committees and diaspora funded initiatives
providing water and food relief to 10s of thousands of people.
We also had links with Muslim international organisations.
This is the way forward ... Not begging for jobs in some random foreign NGO with an
ulterior motive.

I really suspect alot of these western ngos are nothing but subsidized work places for their native western excess labor force, we don't need to blue eyed naive fool to be sent to our deegans and tuulos, development is BEST managed with local and cultural expertise, wallahi SL government better set requirements asap that all ngos operating must have minimum 80 % Somali staff and at least 50 % in leading positions.
This is fcking unbelieable
I agree with ur second post!

Unless a proper wadani comes to power, I doubt this will be the case unfortunately.hangool79 wrote:I really suspect alot of these western ngos are nothing but subsidized work places for their native western excess labor force, we don't need to blue eyed naive fool to be sent to our deegans and tuulos, development is BEST managed with local and cultural expertise, wallahi SL government better set requirements asap that all ngos operating must have minimum 80 % Somali staff and at least 50 % in leading positions.

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
There is no need for an utopian ideal wadani candidate to put forward such a requirement abdikarim!! this is WIN WIN because we have huge unemployed young population, and also we get rid of cadaan pervos from operating in our country, also our youth will gain valuable experience which can be used for a multitude of other areas.
I don't know how many ngos operate in SL but something tells me there is prolly hundreds of such positions which today are filled by congolese, cadaan, hindi, u name it that should have gone to our young national candidates.
I hereby declare SOMALILANDIZATION is needed just like the carabs to with their emiratization shit going on we need to make people aware of this video wallahi

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
When the Arabs are talking about the arabisation of jobs. It is for initiatives and jobs which they pay for from state coffers.
Things like public sector jobs and certain private sector jobs (such as those which rely on state support for subsidisation and contracts).
We don't pay for foreign NGOs their we do not have anything to bargain with them other than
employ us or get out of the country.
The latter option is unlikely seeing as our government relies on donor/NGO money
and the former option is just embarrassing.

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
if you search somali jobs or somaliland jobs you find straight away jobs in garowe by save the children, only a few in sland in areas like borama but mostly in the moqdishu and bossaso, and yeah idk about the criteria there but it's most likely people who aren't somalihangool79 wrote:There is no need for an utopian ideal wadani candidate to put forward such a requirement abdikarim!! this is WIN WIN because we have huge unemployed young population, and also we get rid of cadaan pervos from operating in our country, also our youth will gain valuable experience which can be used for a multitude of other areas.

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
We the people of SL must organise ourselves in such a way that NGOs
are no longer relied on (especially for relief purposes).
We must limit their activity, especially their ability to dictate
Social policy - which they currently do. NGOs don't just provide food you know
they act as agents of foreign governments and they are peddlers of foreign ideas
especially on family, religion and custom.

One more thing, I am not a Utopian looking for a Utopian candidate. Such a thing is not
possible in this life.
Laakin I don't think it is too much to ask/hope for a candidate with at least a little
backbone.

Re: NGO's operating in Somaliland/ Somalia discriminate Somali job seekers
abdikarim the damn aid industry and ngos are an unfortunate large part of our society.
This is a matter our politicans should do following
1. Discuss and outline common rules with regards to banning missionaring ngos, pass laws and regulations.
2. Minimizing foreign recruited groundpersonell and set minimum allowd time they can stay.
3. Increase hiring of local people it's a win win for our people down there and our youth in the west who face discrimination.
4. Demand native keypeople in their boards and leadergroups for us to set strategy, vision, target not just await their decisions at mercy
This is simple, we simply need to take control of our affairs.
#Aid is an industry and our misery is the fcking oil
