The issue with Tahriib/migration

Post by soonoqoda »

Many people who leave sland or somalia on that long jounery across the sahara towards libya or egypt towards europe leave because they think the life there is better there when it is clearly not. There have been many accounts of refugees dying on their way there, the recent ones with organ trafficking and the asylum centres they have to wait in for months and some years to even have a chance to get citenzship or a better life there.

Why isn't the somaliland or the federal government doing anything about this? The reality is that people who live in europe know that it isn't perfect and the increase in islamophobia and the racism that is clear should be a sign that it isn't good. Somalia is in some state of peace alhamdulilah, the war has slowed down and life is returning to the streets of konfuur. Somaliland has been at peace too but there's still a giant number of people who leave.

A lot of people who tahriib say that there are no jobs avaliable for them in the country, so then why not contribute and help out with people to create jobs? There is plenty of work to do rebuilding the nation so i don't see why they should be running away.

migration = xenophobia

especially if you're somali

The Somali Federal Government wanted to help people who Tahriib from the Waqooyi part of the country by opening an E-Passport office in Hargeisa 2yrs ago.

This was to make it easier for people going Tahriib to Europe to have Somali passports and other documents. The Siilaanyo government has rejected this and thats why u see what u see.

Its really unfortunate.

Only way to get a job is Somalia is through nepotism and if you don't have those connections you are out of luck. Your solution to the problem is overly simplistic. Get a job contribute to rebuilding is not solution to destitute individuals willing to risk their life to get to the west. And life is absolutely better in the west and you are delusional if you think it's not.

Somaliland has taken steps and tahriib has gone done a lot, compared to the peak 2011 - 2012.
If anybody tries to tahriib and police get suspicious all they have to do is check their finger prints.

For example my cousin tried to tahriib last summer, he managed to get to wajaale. Then the police over there got suspicious and checked his finger prints. Turns out his dad done the finger print think to him and he was not aloud to leave the country. Then the police handed him to us.

Considering the amount of money you need to be trafficked to Europe, it's not destitute people doing this. Destitute people don't have tens of thousands of dollars.

There is something horribly wrong if someone's best investment with thousands and thousands of dollars is illegal migration. If I were the government that would be my top priority, keeping that investment in Somalia, not just the money but these people are the best and brightest; brave, ambitious risk takers.
