Global Fire Power 2016 ranking, real or fake?

Post by Abdelrahim »

I have never been a fan of Global fire power I always believed its bullshit but lets check the rankings of this year in Africa,

1-Egypt
2-Algeria
3-Ethiopia
4-Nigeria
5-South Africa
6-Angola
7-Morocco
8- Sudan
9- Libya
10- Democratic Republic of congo

How can Ethiopia be number 3? what does it have?
-Ethiopia should be 10th realistically, even its defense budget is below $900 Million

-DRC congo shouldn't be in top 10

-Morrocan,Sudanese and Angolan air forces are all superior to the Nigerian and all 3 have a bigger defense budget than Nigeria

-Libya shouldn't be in top 10 either, army realistically unstable

etc.....

rest of the continent

- Eritrea not in top 30 in continent regardless of their huge standing army and relatively good air force for an african country
- Somalia ranked 29 in continent, so it has a stronger army than 25 African countries
- Kenya ranked 11th & Uganda ranked 16th
- Amazingly, Tunisia one of the richest countries is ranked 12th in continent
-

In Africa when shit hits the fan it all comes down to

1. Man power
2.Unity
3. Supply of cash , ammunition, food and drugs.
4. Having large number of vehicles (technicals) any type.
4. Air support.

You must have it all to win. Having some fancy looking gadgets does not make any difference .

makes sense but quality is important too... 1 Abrams can beat 10 T-55's

funny thing is, Ethiopia has numbers but no quality, no respectable budget , no real air power yet still ranks 3rd in continent
DRC lacks everything yet still on top 10 whereas kenya has everything and is outside top 10

Ethiopia is now manufacturing its own home made weapons. I have to give props to them.

South Africa, Sudan , Egypt , Morroco , Nigeria all have military factories its just a small internal supply of arms, most key weapons in continent come from abroad

i very much doubt this list was made by the CIA,
its too amatuer .

There is no way in hell that Ethiopia is more powerful than South Africa.
and how on earth did Congo even get on the list?

If this is a list of the largest armed forces in Africa, interms of manpower than it might be close.

The first list is based on overall strength including air forces and navies , things like geographic factors are also taken into account.

The website provide another list by manpower, that is as follows

1-Nigeria
2-Egypt
3-Ethiopia
4-south africa
5-sudan
6-algeria
7-kenya
8-morroco
9.DRC congo
10.Uganda

However on the very bottom of the website it says: Sources CIA.gov , CIA world factbook,wikipedia.com , public domain print, media sources and user contributions. I have checked wikipedia and its figures are different to that of GFP, but ranking still doesn't make sense, how can ethiopia be so high

Lol@ Kenya. What a joke. Few Somali kids wiped out entire company of these monkeys.

Ethiopia combat experience is pretty good as well available man power. Their Airforce is also pretty effective for a sub Saharan country.

I think Egypt and South Africa are head and shoulders above the rest.

Ethiopia is the only few country in Africa who have fought a lot of wars in both external and internal in the last 100 years so they have the experience for the starters, not to mention they have all their neighboring countries at lock due to ethnic shares and if shit goes down, they would fuck them (like they did to South Sudan last week and Kenya 3 months ago) so experience is first then the quantity of weapons is last.

Second, their geographic location makes it harder for the enemy to attack especially in the highland. Third, their resources (all those rivers etc) within their territories that flow across the borders is the reason why their neighbors avoid confrontation or else, they would exploit them.

They have the US backing, number TWO after Egypt in Africa and if shit goes down, US would come to aid. Also, they have the upper hand in African Union, why do you think African countries always go to Adis Ababa? Ethiopia has by far the most allies in Africa than anyone else so unity is the important part because it's where you get the backup (cash, ammunition, manpower etc). Only Somalia and Arab states supported Eritrean independence, the rest were on Ethiopian side. Same to war on alshabaab and their destabilization in the region, no one dares to criticize them etc...

South Africa is like Saudi Arabia. All fancy toys and white commanders but no war experience beside fighting disgruntled Bantus in villages under apartheid S.A so when it comes to war, I bet they would lose like Saudis with their mighty toys fled from Saddam in 1991 and Houthis today.

Nigeria is the same. They have delta rebels in the south fighting for oils and boko haram in the north. With all their toys, they still struggle.

Is Ethiopia the same? No. They forced all ethnic groups into submission, fucked ICU and made Egypt look like a fool. Why do you think Al Shabaab only attack Kenya?

OMG this post is full of unbelievable garbage , this overestimation of ethiopian power is as much across the line like Trump  .. this estimation of ethiopian power would not even be claimed by ethiopian officials themselves. this is the same ethiopia that was defeated by tiny eritrea and nearly lost its capital to somalia back in the days

nigga, A lot of African countries have military experience both internal and external from the north to the south of the AFRICAN continent. Ethiopia has ''NO'' control over its neighbours and is not even close to that. It may have control over Somalia or Djibouti but not over Sudan , Kenya etc.

I give you the statement about geographic location, their highlands do in fact make things harder for an invasion but not impossible, it only creates some delays. the only neighbours that I know of the don't confront ethiopia over the waters are somalia and may be Kenya (But Kenya benefits from the projects of ethiopia). But Sudan and Egypt can invade Ethiopia whenever they want, it only takes a few planes to blow up the dams if they wanted to, no need for invasion. You really gonna tell me the Ethiopian air force would confront the Sudanese air force? let alone the Egyptian air force which is light years more bigger and developed.

LMAO US backing? what makes you think Ethiopia is a more important ally to the US then Egypt, South Africa, Morroco , Nigeria? I really much doubt the US would step in to save ethiopia, they don't care anyway... what upper hand does Ethiopia have in the african union? its just like any other country as important as liberia, the reason why meetings are in Addis are cuz the headquarters are in Addis, not because ethiopia some random might... The EU headquarters are in brussels Belgium, that doesn't mean belgium is the regional european power.... Ethiopia has more allies than other african countries? next you gonna tell me ethiopia is the greatest thing that happened to africa   nigga please, where do you get that stuff from?

nigga many countries supported eritrea including Sudan, Egypt , Mali whatever, but yea again, none of us dares to say a word against the mighty ethiopia

The Saudi army of today is not the saudi army of the 90's.... It is a modern, standing military power recognized by the whole world with a highly trained military and a perfect air force.... just because south africa been chillign doesn't mean it woudl lose to ethiopia, south africa would finish ethiopia within a month  besides, Nigeria doesn't have many toys its all outdated soviet shit with fake alpha jets

so ethiopia is a major power thats why alshabab never entered ethiopia? really nigga??? I think enugh has been said so far but yo must be reminded, Ethiopia is amongst the poorest 15 countries in Africa and the least educated in the continent with some of the lowest IQ's... not being too mean or anything, but Ethiopia might be a Lion in the horn region, not the continent

What countries are stronger than Ethiopia except the big boys of Egypt and South Africa. The rest of Africa is in turmoil or too small to field and sustain large standing army.
