Baseless Local Stereotypes

Post by KyrieJama »

There are many examples, i'll just highlight a few (excuse the generalizations);

Reer Hargeisa/Borama and their fear of Burco:

Despite the brandishing of knives and canes in Burco, you are 10x safer out and about at night in Burco than in Hargeisa and Borama. Hargeisa is infested with thieves, gangs, and rape is a common occurrence. In Burco everyone knows everyone, and the fact that weapons are carried so casually reer Burco don't mess with each other. I lived in both cities for extensive periods of time, I don't understand why reer Hargeisa are so uneasy and terrified while in Burco.

Isaaqs and their fear of travelling to Harti deegans:

I don't know if it's some sort of collective guilt for something or the political tension, but Isaaqs do not travel to Harti areas unless they have a reer abti or accompanied by someone for deegaanka. Even my work colleagues refuse to do work out there, and I handle all business out there. I find it quite ridiculous.

Why would anyone harm a Sacad Muse or Cidagale in Las Anod or Badhan. Even for HY or HJ vengeance killing are limited and only take place between rural communities in grazing zones not towns. As much as you stress that these are stereotypes and unfounded they choose to believe they will sprayed with bullets w/o individual causation.

Southern Somalis (esp DM and Hawiye) and their propensity to be bullied in Isaaq cities;

This is why some Isaaqs believe Raxanweyn and Hawiye are soft. Unless they have familial connections in the north, or lived there for a longtime a Benaadiri or DM grown ass man can be seen getting bullied and verbally attacked by teenagers. They find the qawdhan dialect and mannerisms aggressive, and they generally try at all costs to avoid the Isaaq locals. As if they believe Isaaqs are all out for revenge for '88 :? So they try to act reer magaal and harmless as a defense mechanism, which does not work :Heh:

But they don't fear reer Borama or Las Anod at all, but one exchange with an Isaaq leaves the random DM and Abgaal traumatized and scarred :lol:

Daroods not as much, but I have noticed the way Majeerteens and Mareexaans seek Dhulbahante protection in HRG or Burco, or women from their clans married and living there :lol: Ogandens are right at home though..

Most Isaaqs are just seeking a debate with these Southerners and hold false misconceptions of southerners; and would much rather have them speak their mind and defend themselves. They are harmless FKD instigators w/o a violent bone in their body. :idea:

Isn't the supreme commander of Eastern JSL forces an Ciidagale, (Col.Dhancade) don't worry we'll carve out our xaafad in Las Anod soon enough.

100% accurate but garad you forgot 1.

Reer bari of SL believe that reer galbeed are too reer magaal. They are influenced heavily by Ethiopian and Djiboutian daqan xumo i.e. khamri, sheesha, thievery, unmodest clothing
