I heard there will be presidential election only in March 2017.
Parliament is likely to get at least one more year of extension

why..?!
do u have any link or something..!!....we have the most useless parliament in the world...they were in seat since 2005 ,the one and only parliamentarian elections happened...

tens of draft laws that could have benefited SLDN are stacked in their drawers , bill for district boundaries,bill of women and minorities quota,bill of electing district MPs in the parliament,bill of commercial banks,bill of foreign investments....etc.

If kursiga parliamentka was an investment, these MP fockers have tripled their shaxaad investments since 2005

Ramzy, I heard from some high up people that two election at the same time is seen quite disruptive and not very easy to manage, given that there are too many candidates for the parliament. I heard electoral commission prefer one election at a time, the opposition thinks it is easier for them to make sure they are not cheated when there is one election at a time, the ruling party thinks its better for them to focus the presidential election first, which they think they can win, and then proceed to the next election in a year time.
I heard there is consensus emerging about the issue, and Cabdirahman Ciro wanted assurance about the presidential election happening on time, an assurance which he already have and seem to be satisfied.

if that really happens with a laughable excuse as that, that would be an epic fail that will tarnish SL for a long time, I remember when this kulmiye led government was putting up a big fight to introduce the new voter registration plus the national ID card as a condition for citizens to give their votes and even went far by demanding to postpond the parliementary elections so the voters would also be included in the new voting system......the western countries that fund the elections and the political parties all showed resistance for this HUGE project....and its just a mean to extend the government's term and everyone knew its impossible to have 2 elections at the same time...which also a precedence that never occured b4 and no one have experience in carrying out 2 national elections at the same time......and now simply after they achieved their short goals by extending silanyo term they try to abandon their own project.....

Ramzy, I think your take on the issue is quite dramatic. I don't think a postponement of the Parliament election will tarnish anything given that presidential one, which is the main one, happen on time, smoothly and fairly and everyone is satisfied. What will tarnish not only the reputation of SL but also endanger its stability and social harmony is if unfair/kushubasho election happen. Its our responsibility to avoid that. If one at a time election reduces the risk of confusion, error and cheating, I am for it personally. keep in mind that a large number of the voting population are nomads and rural people who do not read and write, it is easy for them to confuse and make errors when they are voting in two elections at the same time.

Samatar, I am more realistic and I call a spade a spade, SL set a unique route for itself among any nation which seeks to build a new country and breaks the union with its former country, I think u know how most of the countries who got their independence from their mother country went through a bloody war for ages whereas SL since declaration of re-independence we chosen peace and democracy,right..?...that is why the western countries put their hands with us to develop our capacity in state building and good governance, we were on the right path till 2010 where majority elected silanyo to make a change not only on the buildings but to reform the constitutuin and eliminate the loopholes where politicians exploit it,to pass their own agenda,......yet we found ourselves in an endless loop.

You cant promote yourself as a democratic country running away from a failed state such as Somalia and at the same time,kill the democratic process with unjustified postpondments of the election process.....we had had several elections with freud numbers yet we managed to sort it out and put SL interests above all,like xaqsoor done in 2010 ,so we can live by some acceptable margine of error provided president sticks to his 5 years term , and sustain our only comodity ''DEMOCRACY'' which we try to market it to the western democratic world to regain out indepedence and distance yourself from the chaotic failed state of Somalia.

and No,I dont think the presidential election is more important than the parlimentary one, both are quite important,a government is not only an excutive branch,besides there are qabiils,politicians,businessmen..etc eager to joint the parliament and make a difference since only 3 individuals from 3 different parties can run for presidency but the race is open for all SL citizens to enter parliament,I am expecting the elections for parliament will be more fierce than presidency

If it means that Presidential are held fairly and on time whilst parliament elections pushed back, I would take it. Rather see that than the other way around. Meh iga dheh

It's being pushed back because of Awdal and Samaroons unfair demands for more parliamentary seats. Cirro, Muuse and Faysal Calu Waraabe as head of the three parties were unable to judge on this and I don't blame them because the three options on the table are all hard pills to swallow for some one.

In australia the government must at all cost held elections before their term is up. In most cases they go to the polls earlier than the deadline.

Only in somaliland are elections held years behind

I 100% agree with you I dont think its right. There should have already been a solution to this problem. You will see that all of the political parties are in full agreement here. The reason is they dont want to upset the gudabirsi (any that comes out and says no to them risks losing votes in Awdal). Thier choice is to either give Gudabirsi what they want which is seats that are not rightfully theirs (they already have more than whats theirs) and upset everyone else in SL or tell Gudabirsi that they wont get anything extra and upset them.
