I am really want to take a dna ancestry test. I wanted to know if I should take it with ancestry or 23andme? I also want to use discounta if there is some.

Take it with 23andme and state your clan.

All Somalis get very similar results. We are basically mostly just East African on 23andme.

Our autosomal results show that we are roughly 40% ancient west Asian and 60% ancient East African, and all plot similarly on global similarity plots for different ethnic groups. Our paternal lines (Y chromosome) is mainly of two groups, either E1b1b1 (about 75-80% of Somali males, the majority are of this haplogroup) or haplogroup T (around 10% of Somali males) depending on the clan (mostly Dir are haplogroup T, up to 80%). On our maternal lines, we are more varied, being mostly 40% eurasian with haplogroups N and M, and the rest being east African variants of haplogroup L.

Most of this is all just a very small picture of what they think today, but I suspect we will know much more when we have more data from ancient samples and test full genomes.

Sometimes there are discounts on these tests, so you can maybe wait for that. Or you can not go ahead with it, as you more than likely will get a typical Somali result.

Can I see screenshots of some Somalis who toke it. Even though some Somalis who are not related to me at all toke it, does not mean I might not get different and suprising results.
