**BREAKING** Hostage in Texas. Suspect is Somali

AMARILLO, TEXAS - The City of Amarillo says police and fire crews are on the scene of a reported active shooter incident at a Walmart store on Interstate 27.

There are no confirmed reports of injuries, but there are reports of a hostage situation with an armed suspect still inside the store.

Police are asking people to stay clear of the area.

Avoid the Walmart at I-27 & Georgia - first responders are on scene of active shooter incident. No word of injuries at this time.

Police are searching for a Somalian man wearing Kakhi pants, NewsChannel10 reports.

The following statement was posted online by Amarillo PD shortly before noon Tuesday:

APD on scene with armed subject at the Walmart at Georgia and Canyon Drive | APD and several other agencies are on scene at the Walmart on georgia. There are reports of an armed subject inside who may have hostages. More info when it's available. Please avoid the area so that officers can focus on the scene and not traffic. Any media is asked to respond to the area of 42nd and Georgia

Police have shut down the I-27 at Georgia northbound frontage road.

The Randall County Sheriff's Office reports there are several law agencies on the scene.
