I want to teach myself coding and programming. Do you recommend any books or resources? What language do you recommend?

I'd say Javascript. These days you don't need to download apps from the app store, you can create responsive websites that look and work like apps. This year and the following years to come the most indemand language will definetely be javascript. Combine it with jquery and you'll set yourself apart from the c#/java/swift horde. The key is to learn one language, once you get the syntax and you start thinking like a programmer, all the other languages will be easy to learn. I'd also consider networking instead of coding. Networking jobs are plentiful and pay really well from the start. Unlike programming, the theories and concepts hardly ever change. And if you like coding, you can use powershell to do your networking duties. I'm going for the ccna to ccie route myself. Starting a ccna course after ramadan in stratford. http://www.impactitraining.uk/ courses are pretty cheap.

That's how Jim Balsille destroyed Blackberry.

Javascript is important but it isn't a good intro language. I'd say python.

Yeah, network and data administration are good fields to get into, but coding is just as rewarding. In my city there is a coding academy, takes relatively short period of time to finish, each course is about $99.00 and starting wage is $70,000/year.

We also have who is who of tech companies, Amazon, Microsoft, Google and plethora of other tech companies, including federal government agencies desperate for tech savvy employees.

JavaScript, Python, iOS all are useful programs to know.

Hopefully all you FKD experts and jobless Faraxs take advantage of what I just posted.

The problem with coding is you usually need a computer science degree to land a job. Whereas with hands on roles such as networking, data, cloud, virtualisation, cybersecurity, you can demonstrate your abilities with a couple of technical interview questions.

Warya I'm thinking about doing a Data Science masters this coming year inshallah, starting salary is £30000-£40000 rising to +£70000 with four years experience.

You learn in the degree programme languages such as python, Ruby and R. Look into it, UCL do it and Kings college. Brish gov is paying for masters nowadays aswell.

I'm more interested in infrastructure than the science (servers, firewalls, switches etc), so I'm taking the certification route. But I might do a computer sicence degree abroad if I can afford it. Tuition for masters is only for under 30's  I'm 28 so no chance of that happening.

They changed it bro, its for under 60's now so that odayaal like you can also take part. Also don't waste time doing a 3 years Bachelors in Comp Sci when you can learn most of it yourself.

You don't even need masters for Data science/analyst and most other programming jobs, I like being spoonfed as you can learn everything yourself. Heres the process: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-i-le ... s-pensig-1

For people wanting to learn python(itd be better to use codeacademy to learn syntax, but harder stuff learn on here and online), here's everything: https://mega.nz/#!gFp0AKIY!nT0U3grbbujI ... SkwoBFTn5g

Same for C#: https://mega.nz/#!wFYTXZII!N_IfCfhV8qNY ... yvZsftBlOA

Learn one language at a time.

Codecademy is great for beginners. I learnt CSS JavaScript and Jquery in less than 4 months. Now I'm learning Python. It's very interactive you will practice on the spot and they give you tests and projects.
