According to the link/video posted above, the kid was suffering from a mental illness and the family refused medical intervention from the authorities because inanka "cirbad baa la durayaa". Another sad and avoidable tragedy if we only remove the stigma attached to mental health and comprehend that cirbadda could be a valuable help for many patients suffering from mental illnesses within our community. Many other religions such as Hindus, Jehovah Witness, Jewish, Catholics and Pentecostal churches object to medical treatment because they consider that it requires a 'strong faith' to counter it. Therefore, the biggest obstacle for medical treatment are our Imams and the sooner they realise that mental health can not be only diagnosed as a spiritual problem, but also should be diagnosed as a medical issue, then we could avoid many of these tragedies.
