The Somali guy needs to launch a class action lawsuit. What does simple apology going to do for him? He needs to claim emotional distress. Once you have something in writing, you've that as a backup. The employer representative can come up all kinds of excuses, but in the court of law, what matters is evidence, and that email has a time stamp, with the bigoted language in it. Although it was discriminatory if the reasons given are all those in that email, if it isn't, it will be a case of he said and she said on the phone. The brother is denying that he ever called him, but phone records could be checked and traced back by a financial firm with resources and maybe that is why the brother is only seeking an apology. It is a tough market to crack and now the brother will be further marked out by other investment houses and may even not be called for a interview, let alone anyone in the sector ever employing him in the future. He will be seen as a litigious problem. I know people of different colours who have immaculate degrees in finance but flopped many times in interviews and thus failed to land in a decent job. There are others who are educationally less qualified than the above group, but impress the panel at their job interviews and land at most jobs they apply for.
