When the port was liberated and the Dervish fled the poor sultan wrote a thank you letter to the British anti Slavery society , its was comical and bizarre. Around 1920 the British exiled him to an island requested by his own warsasngali people who got tired of his intrigue he was still loyal to the British crown until his death .
