Times have changed and perspective must change. Politics is a dynamic game, much like chess, so it is important to continuously develop your skills. A decade ago ONLF was doing a fantastic job in the ogaden but look at what happened to them today. They have lost lots of men, resources and people were killed, villages burned, women raped, elders imprisoned as a repercussion for their rebellion against the axmaar kufaar. The change came with Ethiopia learning how somalis function as people. How they clan dynamics work and how they can be used against each other. They always knew this but it is as though they have been taking notes for centuries and suddenly they are at a place where they can glance their notebook and say "we have got enough info".

Reasons why we need to only change the ogaden name:

The simplest and the most obvious reason is that as long as we keep the name we'll forever fight a war that we will never win. Ethiopia challenges Egypt on issues regarding the nile river. They pretty much are in control of Somalia and not a while ago they were causing some havoc for Kenya. This should show how much military power they have got and us being a ONE qabiil of somalia cannot fight them on our own. Maybe if all of ogaden were united and we had the same military equipment as they do we probably would stand a chance but that is not the case. We are not united, they have armed the traitors amongst us, and other somalis form the region feel alienated and they have no reason to join the war.
If all somalis were involved, we probably would have done better than we did so far. Now some of you might argue we have lost so much lives and have invested so much to free the damned place. True but that doesn't mean we stubbornly stick to ways that all of us know is not going to work. ONLF is simply not the solution and before it used to be we used to fight the Ethiopians but now we can't even touch them because we have their dogs in between us.

Most of you should know that in the even the land becomes free, regardless of how many somalis get involved, ogaden will always a fair representation since they are the single biggest clan in the land. It is time to re prioritize and bring in other somalis who are intersted. This is especially important now since Ethiopia is going through a lot and if another axmaar party seizes power, it won't make a difference for us somalis. Our best interest is to stay united and is to fully know that we have the same enemy and that our survival is contingent upon our coorperation.

Lastly, if Ethiopia did fall today, do you really thing ONLF can storm in the ogaden area and secure it? No. They don't even have enough number to secure the entire land.

If Ethiopia falls into fierce civil war Isaaq/Samarone areas will be secured and protected by Somaliland forces.If Ogaden/Bartiree/Abaskuul want peace with us it should be granted as useless spilling of Somali blood is bad since you will need all your men to defend against those stinking qootis/Amxaar!

agree, but those of us who are opposed to the abyssinian empire, are very few in numbers. What we need now more than anything else is TV. The Amharas are doing wonders with their ESAT! Imagine how somebody like me, who is blessed with oratory could have destroyed Hassan sheikh, if i had the platform! Also being from the 'right' family would have played in my favor, when it comes to inciting the people against the authorities!

lol Really? If you could take the whole ogaden from ethiopia and rule it with a strong fist, I would be more than okay with it. No troops from any somali qabiil or region can protect its citizens from Ethiopia. The sooner we all come to terms with that that better.


@balwarama bro I think that is a good idea. The entire land has been hijacked first then the dhaqan is now also diminishing. Ogaden were once very religious community with a lot of religious men coming out of them to fight but now the table has turned. Makhtal, sayid mohamed, abdirahman mursal, ugaas magan and etc... We are now seeing a different breed of ogaden. Some who literally live for the Ethiopian and do as they are told and others who are indifferent to what is going on. There is a third(a minority) group and that is the likes of us and like you use we are very small in number. You would not believe that amount of ogadens in the west who happily wave the ethiopian flag. it's sickening sxb. They need to come to Allah because for a muslim to willfully submit to a gaal in his own land is a major sin.

I agree with what you said about ONLF. when you have the president of Somalia saying those things about you is when you know you have problems and need to change your stance but are you sure about the name Somali-Galbeed? The international community may perceive it as an expansionist force from Somalia instead of an actual freedom fighting movement and that could hurt the struggle big time.

I agree. If you want my advice, it would be wiser to rename it to a qabiil-neutral name. Every major Somali clan lives in K5, from Dir to Rahanweyn. Somaliland is less diverse and yet it is not named Isaaqland or Isaaqia because it would be too on the nose and politically incorrect. The Dir/Isaaq regions would probably prefer to join Djibouti or Somaliland anyway.

Either way, you stand a greater chance against Ina Ey and his dhabodhilifs by uniting with other marginalised clans rather than standing alone.

smart move i do believe though u need more than just a name change if u want to fight Ethiopia. allot of soul searching reconcile between the various clans need to be restored.ogaden name could have worked to build a separate identity for the people there. in order to build ogaden nationalism forr the folks there. but it was also mindi labbo af leh. it was never a name.somalis from.somalia could ruin for yaaa. the problem with ogaden politicians and i say ogaden is they were more preoccupied with somalia poliics than ever Ethiopia .ogaden always looks up to Mogadishu for guidance and never any place else

there is nothing different between ogaden and somaliland bc both of them are names given to them by the colonial forces that why they r sticking to it like you do!

Somaliland was bigger than isaaq as each clan had a separate treaty with them even when they were leaving the queen has invited to london all of them

Isaaq led the post-independence state by the majority pary but you had no trusteeship govt like the koonfur and that was the first time you had one entity

Iraq's now want to regain their independence bc the majority of the parliament who voted for unity was isaaq but it was willingly not by annextion that's the problem

They applied to some regions that had clan structure to their clan names like majeertenia, ogaden

For somaligalbeed, haile salasse was favoring the name ogaden over somali to avoid having connections with the rest of somalia that's how it appeared



Somaligalbeed can unify all the clans but internationally it's known as ogaden

Since the majority of ogaadeens hail from there I think they should keep fighting in this name until liberation then change the name.

The whole region was never called Ogaden and that's known fact.

The region is three main parts; Ogaden, Haud and Shinile.

So I am cool with those three names.

I don't want no Darood ruling my people from JigJigga.Isaaq/Samarone lands will return to us if Ethiopia ends up looking like Syria.What you do with your lands and how you will defend it is your problem!
