Ethiopia: Anti-Tigrai TPLF protesters set flower farms ablaze

Post by AwRastaale »

I hear from Amhara friends that part of Gojjam is already autonomous and managing much of their own security and services.

Bahir Dar is the capital of Gojjam. In the old Abyssinia, Gojjam always maintained great degree of autonomous. For example it was not under Tewodros II nor the previous rulers. It was partially conquered by Menelik's forces with the help of Ras Ali Mohammed of Wollo (he sent 80,000 soldiers). The last self-Gojjami ruler fell in 1930s.

The Italians failed to occupy Gojjam and put up the hardest resistance. That is where Haile Selassie re-entered Ethiopia upon his return considering it the safest place.

It does not surprise me to see Gojjam if it's already ruling some towns and villages on its own terms.

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – A Dutch company says protesters in Ethiopia are torching flower farms as they target businesses with links to the government. Flowers are one of the country's top exports.

The Esmeralda Farms statement comes amid anti-government protests in the Oromia and Amhara regions in recent weeks that residents and rights groups say have left dozens dead.

The company says its 10 million Euro investment went up in smoke this week in Bahir Dar city and that several other horticulture companies were affected.
Demonstrators have been calling for wider freedoms in this East African country. The Ethiopian Human Rights Council has said government security forces are using excessive force against them.

Ethiopia's government, a close security ally of the West, is often accused of silencing dissent, even blocking internet access at times.

How do u guys know so much about habashida and their history? U couldn't pay me enough money to be even remotely interested.

Anyways, We the non compromised Somalis must take advantage of this oppertunity. In Somalia, less amxaaro meddling in our affairs, in the Somali region of Ethiopia, it's time to show solidarity with the Oromo protests etc.

Look out for the interest our people everywhere.

I mean I tried reading Awrastaale insightful articles few times but I always start catching zzz zzzz with names like emperor hailuem terdo guredelem is mentioned. I guess you have to either grow up with them or something to be interested in their history.

hawdian is isaaq through and through more isaaq than many of you who claim somalilander working with Ethiopia to further isaaq interest in ethiopia and the region and somaliland should be considered at all time. the yuusuuf u are wrong to compare slave ileey to hawdian its an insult first of all ileey is an owned property by the habasha he kills his own in order to satisfy his masters. how can u compare such a man to hawdian who deals with Ethiopian habashas in a political way while not hurting his people. if ethiopa was an enemy to isaaq and to somaliland and hawdian sided with them makes sense. ileey was created by meles to destroy independent ogaden state. its like hawdian siding with afweyne against snm.or siding with wslf against snm.

as for my friend advo the habashas hate them love them after the ancient Egyptians they have the most significant history in our region also even.if they were our enemies its good to know about ur enemies

Militias Clashing

Militias are also clashing with the army in parts of Gojam and Gondar areas of Amhara, with 10 people dying Wednesday in Metemma on the Sudan border, and four in Debark to the north of Gondar city, said Yared
Hailemariam, executive director for the Association for Human Rights in Ethiopia, which is based in Belgium.
The military is also patrolling Bahir Dar and shooting at protesters, he said by phone from Brussels. Unless the government changes its approach, the unrest may worsen, he said.

“In both Oromia and Amhara region people are saying enough is enough,” Yared said. “They are demanding regime change.”
