The Hypocrisy of Feminist Outrage

Post by Raganimo »

The viral NYC Catcall video has caused a stir in social media and online forums. It records a woman receiving over 100 catcalls from men as she walks the streets of New York City for 10 hours.

Just consider the 100,000+ youtube comments alone. While most commenters found the behavior of the catcalling men disgusting, some took issue with how the woman in the video was dressed. These commenters were daring enough to suggest that perhaps she would have attracted less negative attention had she dressed more “modestly.”

This suggestion, in turn, was met with backlash. How dare anyone “blame the victim” by suggesting that a woman change the way she dresses because men cannot or will not act with common decency!

What do we make of all this?

Is it completely outlandish to suggest that the way a woman (or man) dresses has an impact on how others treat her (or him)?

If I dress like a shop assistant at a retail store, then I would not surprised when people start asking for my help or asking me questions about the merchandise.

Likewise, if a woman or indeed a man dresses inappropriately they should not be surprised when many people react accordingly to the way they are dressed. I understand where feminists are coming from in terms of indecent behaviour. No one should ever actually carry out any physical intimidation or to a lesser extent unwanted and unwarranted verbal attacks, innuendos and cajoling; but not everyone has self restraint and good morals, and most of us with a brain factor this into our reality. The world is full of dangerous and weird people, it is common sense that you do not walk around dark alleyways in revealing clothes as a woman, and likely of much weaker physical strength than most men.

Some of these feminists need a reality check in so many ways it's not even funny!

It's biological. Women are more sexually arousing than men. Men attract women through money, cars while women attract men through beautify and sexual gestures
