Yemeni-Somali marriages

Considering that we've been intermarrying for centuries and that many of our tribes trace their ancestry back to Yemen, why is it discouraged to marry from them today?

I genuinely want to marry a Yemeni, but I know my family will be against it.

They're decent people and iirc the Prophet (Saw) praised them. Throughout history they've married so openly, from Sudan to Bangladesh. I know people have bad opinions/stereotypes of Arabs, but Yemenis are not like them. Yeah, you get the few bad apples, but they're usually such kind, sweet people.

What would you think of a Somali who married a Yemeni?
Would you encourage/discourage it (and why)?
Is it common and have you heard stories (good/bad)?

No idea what u mean by intermarrying for centuries, i know my lineage from over 30 generations and there isn't a yemeni among my ancestors. If our tribes do trace back to these yemenis then that would make all daroods for example as coming from the family of the prophet pbuh and being quraysh, it just doesn't sound right in my head.

If you met a yemeni guy and then really liked him, and wanted to marry him then good on u, but this idea of marrying yemenis when you probably don't know a single yemeni guy in real life is sad, delusional and will lead you into a failed marriage if you can even find one to marry (lol). PS: there is no discouragement from marrying a yemeni or whatever, marrying out is discouraged full stop sister there isn't a bias or discrimination against a particular nation.

Lol. I'm not giving away my gender. So I'm neither going to confirm nor deny what you have guessed.

Well, most tribes (Darood, Isaaq, Sheekhaal etc etc) do claim such. I've even heard Hawiye claim as much but not sure about that. Even if you know your abtirsi, that's just your paternal lineage. You don't know if your other ancestors were Yemeni or not. But maybe they weren't anyway, as I haven't claimed all Somalis are mixed with Yemenis.

There was a time when I wasn't really interested in marrying Yemenis, I don't know what changed. I don't want to marry just any Yemeni (lol), but there are some that are close to Somalis so I'd marry someone like that, in shaa Allah.
