It can work but you need to be more brutal than the dealers, you need to be prepared to kill thousands,
You need death squads, not police.
The courts will get in the way so will the international community.

I'm guessing that since Philippines is small fry in world drug trade, uncle Sam will ignore it and El president can go apeshit on the drug lords, and they won't get ant protection.

Yeah the history is well-known. They do a pretty good job IMO. This season is much darker than the first one which was more focused on the gangster/action side of things.
