The reporter was exaggerating.Some people`s survival reaction is like that.They separate themselves from the situation.She seemed like she was just giving fact sorta.

^ I have seen couple people like that. human is mystery, we never know what we are capable until we need it. our survival mood just kicks in, in when we need it.
