Definition. A filler word is an apparently meaningless word, phrase, or sound that marks a pause or hesitation in speech. Also known as a pause filler or hesitation form. Some of the common filler words in English are um, uh, er, ah, like, okay, right, and you know.
In Somali we have words like nooh, dee and the weird one 'yara'. Add more if you know them
Nooh - similar to dee but you never start a sentence with it: whereas you can say "dee I would like to talk to you", "I would like to talk to you dee" you would never say "nooh I would like to talk to you". Nooh is always used at the end of a sentence
Someone provide a similar explanation for the word yara because I don't get it: is it "I would like to yara talk to you"? Is it an adverb filler? So could you say "waxaan rabaa in aan kula yara hadlo", "waxaan yara rabaa in aan kula hadlo" - does it translate to "kinda" or "just"
I can't think of any other filler words...I am sure they exist
Af Somaali - Filler Words - Dee kilmada 'yara' aan kahadleyna nooh

Yara is equivalent to "sort of" or "kind of" or even "little".
Yarta wan yara eegay dee - I sort of checked the chick out.

Am not sure about the 'noh' thou. And using it at the end of a sentence....wouldn't that make everything you said a lie
