So I was thinking of opening a business in Hargeisa, as it has a large population (which PL doesn't have), huge diaspora,
safety (which Xamar and the South lacks) and the people seem like reer magaal. Therefore I was wondering what business
I could set up with around $30 000 USD capital.... not really entering now but its good for the future.

Thanks for the help :D  :D

Ik, I was told 30k was base startup cost here in Somalia but Inshallah I'm weighing options.

I heard, in an effort to attract more investors, Somaliland, has now a program in place that would grant foreigners a permanent residence provided they can invest a minimum of $100, 000. Maxaa ka jira warkaas?

You can start a business with that but it all depends on what sort of business.

Some people start with $500. Ilahayba uu barakeeya.

So don't get discouraged.

Don't waste your money sxb! save a bit more first then consider investing your money back home, because 30K is noting unless you want to open a Bakhaar or a carwo; which are not profitable because every farax and xalimo has one in every street corner.

The construction & building material sector is quite profitable but you need at least 100K initial investment. There is a construction boom all over Somalia at the moment due to the relative stability in recent years. However, there is a lot of competition so you need a USP.

Jazakullah sxb that is seeming the likely road now, everyone is seeming dead-set that 30k is not enough so I guess I have to wait.
