I suppose they're very ignorant about Somali history/culture and lump us under "the blacks". Some think we are Arabs.

It may be racist of me, but I am very glad to not be born into a culture of misogny, excessive materialism and hypermasculinity. Even their practice of Islam is a strange concotion mixed with their culture and some of them testify to this. However, they have nice food, strong familial bonds and there are many good examples amongst them.
