What's the cheapest way to import vehicles from Japan to Somaliland??

Post by theyuusuf143 »

These days I Dedicated my whole murqan mood to discover the cheapest way to import a vehicle or multiple vehicles into Somaliland. Why do I need to buy a vehicle abroad? Well the cheapest car you can get in Somaliland is Toyota vitz costing around 3500. I can get the same car in Japan for just 600. I found a reliable dealer in Japan and freight forwarding service based in Somaliland and Japan.

The Problem is the cost of the shipment is very expensive . 20ft container to Berbera from Japan costs 3200 40ft costs 5500 excluding JSL importing Tax. plus I couldn't find any information about Somaliland import regulations.

I preferred to buy from the UK but it's impossible because I can't get right hand drive cars. I tried Emirates but I couldn't find reliable dealers. So I came up this plan.

So far the cheapest option I have is stuffing 6 cars in one 40ft container sharing the cost with two other people. Here is an other problems. Do I need importing licence to bring that number of cars ? How much tax do I have to pay ? Please help me and share if you know better ways. Thanks in advance.

Waa laysku ilaawaa meesha. Laakiin I have to come back soon , I got no money to survive any more, just khooto khooto . But the more you stay in the country the more you can learn how to make living in this country. I will never be the same man when I get back to Europe.

@ MujahidAishah my intention wasn't to make money from this. I just want to buy a single car for my brother. But obviously there is money in it if I want to pursue bringing more and more cars . It depends on the quantity and Somaliland government approval. You have to be familiar with Somaliland business regulations before trying to import items for commercial purposes . Certain business people have monopoly over certain imports. A business man from reer qudhac have the license to import Sugar, an other business man from reer qansax have monopoly over rice . Same goes to every thing from needles to vehicles.

lol It would definitely be to share the sea freight with other importers (cheapest sea freight)

You pay for containers based on teu, not the weight so stuff whatever you can (Safely) into it and you pay the least amount of sea freight/local fees (Port & terminal handling, seal etc) from both ends. You have to be sure you choose a reliable shipper in Japan so they lash the vehicles safely. Normally you can only fit 3 large vehicles into 1x40, so if you were told 6 (that's crazy and extremely risky lol) just make sure you all know that everything is securely lashed. Also, don't pay 100% up front in case there is vehicle damage, you still have room for discussion later. Instead of "sorry there's no insurance" kind of thing.

Taxes: you pay per car so just remember that the more expensive/newer your vehicle, the higher the tax. There's no way to pay a cheaper tax unless you have customs hook-ups, so see what you can do but normally it's a mandatory amount. If you pm me the specific model you're looking for, I can get you the info - though I don't work for free. :)

You don't need an import license for importing vehicles, especially since you would be using a clearance agency to clear the cargo because we have the importing licences.

Emirates is your cheapest option - I believe you can actually get good car prices (I don't know about car prices lol) and the sea freight from Dubai is normally around $950-$1200 max.

Regarding expensive cars, you can 100% import those, but again higher import tax. But that's not the only thing - vehicle maintenance will be very expensive, and the roads here don't allow for longevity. So if you're looking to keep your car out of the shop for at least 5 years, don't buy fragile vehicles. There's a reason why you see specific makes and models on the road lol

If you have the capital (which if you did I doubt you'd be on this forum), you could possibly try opening up a dealership in SL. Partnering directly with a dealership in either Djibouti, Dubai, South Africa or even their head offices if you have the capital for a full franchise etc That way you'd have your spare parts in stock and don't need to import on needs basis only as well as the upkeep and regular repairs from our CRAPPY ASS ROADS.. Hypothetically, that's one way you could have high end cars here with a good lifespan. :)

Its seems you blocked receiving PMs. I sent you two messages but some how they ended up in my outbox not your inbox
 naa badaw baan ahee hadaad heshayna heshay hadii kalena bal adigu pm iisoo dir aan ku tusee . All I know is how to replay . Saw maanad garan maandhay mise midka iigu muhiimsan halkan baan soo dhigaa. Waa bahal Abu ukuna oo giirgiir leh sidii orgi cawaandiya , waa mid kaan isleeyahay gabdhuhu free haku raacaan . Gawaadhida kalena waa isku qolo laakiin way ka jabanyihiin. Container ka lacagtiisaan ka bislaynayaa kuwaas.

You know I am broke. But there is other two cousins of mine, I convinced them to share the container with me. Each one of us will get his car ( or two cars) and share the cost of the container+tax . Simple. Saw maanad garan. Khooto Khootaan wax ku wadaa huuno. Horta what about Europe , are container shipments from Europe to Berbera cheaper than those from Japan? If Japan gets too complicated I will search dealers in UAE or mainland Europe where I can be present . Thank you.

Xitaa container arrangements halkan ingiriiska ii fudud macaal qasaalado iyo xamaan kalaan kusii guri lahaa. It was summer 2012 cashuur waxa layga qaaday $1,500 laakiin waxaan maqlay $1000 bay kusii dareen 2014kii.

Tusaale ahaan haddaad halkan gaadhi ka iibsato UK gaadhi wacan waxaad ku helaysaa £2000-£2500

Shipping wuxuu kaa qaadanayaa £1000

Cashuurta Berbera $2000 ba kasoo qaad.

Waddar guud £2000 = $2500 plus £1000 = $1200 plus $2000

Total= $5,700

Haddaad is tidhaa waddabka ka iibi marjuu adiga kugu joogo $5,700 waxaad siinaysaa ilaa $9000 ugu yaraan.
