The Emiratis will also provide much-needed training and equipment for Somaliland forces. The threat posed by militant Islamist group al-Shabab in Somalia has been largely kept at bay in the breakaway region - having a stronger local force backed by an international partner will shore up this stability.
Its port in Berbera is not solely for military use. Its expansion could provide Somaliland with more robust economic opportunities, particularly targeting its landlocked neighbour Ethiopia.

I applaud this move, you are moving beyond Ethiopia and joining the Somalia-Egypt-Eritrea-Saudi aliance against Ethiopia and Iran. Egyptian soldiers will use this base as a deterrent against Ethiopia if they their threaten to build dams on the Nile.
Ethiopia is Somalia's worst enemy and now she lost her monopoly on Berbera and SL assets. I also welcome SL contributing to the fight against radical twelver houthis who wish to dominante the Arabian peninsula.

Grandpa terror the Hauthi are not twelvers nor do they have any commonality with Shia in fact they just almost another branch of Suni.
