The sneaky strategy of Egypt against Ethiopia

Post by Waachis »

Kampala, March 5, 2017 (SSNA) – In an exclusive interview on Sunday, a former Ugandan intelligence agent told the South Sudan News Agency (SSNA) that Egyptian government is actively pursuing a sneaky military strategy against Ethiopia’s Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and that Egypt is also assisting South Sudanese government in its war against the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army-In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO).

James Moises, the former intelligence operative alleges that Egypt and Uganda mutually agreed last year to achieve what he described as “two different interests. Moises went into details, explaining why Uganda and Egypt joined forces against Ethiopia and South Sudan’s armed opposition.

“First of all, Egypt’s diplomatic campaign to stop Ethiopia from constructing GERD has failed. Secondly, Uganda failed to destroy South Sudanese rebels. These two different interests are the ones uniting Cairo and Kampala,” Moises said. Adding, “Addis Ababa must not believe Cairo and Kampala when talking about anything related to GERD.”

“This is a sneaky strategy against the Ethiopian government,” he asserted.

Moises revealed to the SSNA during the interview that Ugandan President first proposed to the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in December 2016 that if Cairo agrees to give Juba weapons and ammunition it wants to defeat the SPLM/A-IO, then Uganda would support any campaign Egypt wants against Addis Ababa. He further disclosed that Museveni even promised el-Sisi that he has what it takes to bring on board other East African countries to back-up Cairo.

Egypt supplies South Sudan with weapons and ammunition

Moises also disclosed that Egypt is supplying South Sudan with sophisticated weapons, ammunition, and modern military equipment, adding “Kampala manages Cairo military aid to South Sudanese government.”

This is not the first time James Moises make claims like these.

In July 2013, about four months before South Sudan civil war broke out; he wrote an article exposing Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni meddling in South Sudan internal affairs. His piece caused panic in the entire East African region and around the world and widely credited for exposing Uganda’s troops presence in South Sudan before the war erupted.

Moises also warned in November 2015 that the August 2015 peace deal would not succeed, saying South Sudanese president Salva Kiir and his Ugandan counterpart Museveni had already drawn up a plan to prevent the implementation of the agreement. He then disclosed that Kiir and Museveni’s scheme to frustrate peace implementation would include first agreeing to IGAD and the international community brokered demands, allow rebels to come to Juba, and then start a war in the capital.

Last month, the rebel military command accused Egyptian air force of carrying out air attacks on its positions in Kaka town in Upper Nile. Cairo denied the allegations.

South Sudanese rebels also alleged in January that Egypt and South Sudan had strike a dirty deal, alleging the pact between the two countries includes a secret sabotage campaign against Ethiopia’s GERD.

Why a minute.... Egypt is supporting the government in the fight against the rebels to get a military base since its close to the dam?
I think that might work out, salva kiir have had bad relationship towards the ethiopian government for the last 5 years.
He even nearly got arrested by them once him and his rival was forced to make a peace deal in addis ababa.

Yeah pretty much. Tplf apparently sided with machar and his opposition forces, against southern Sudan..
Egypt took advantage of the situation.
Which enraged tplf, but south Sudan openly said we're not afraid of Ethiopia nor will we stop allying with whoever assists us militarily, financially, etc....

Ethiopia is in a difficult situation when it comes to South Sudanese issues. On one hand you have the Nuer fighting the Dinka Government in Juba but also Nuer dominate Ethiopia's Gambella region and they want more autonomous rule or even independence. Ideally Addis Ababa would love to team up with the Dinka to crash them but Dinka is under the influence of Uganda.

There is major rift between Uganda and Ethiopia over the South Sudanese pipeline. The Ethiopians want the pipe to run through Ethiopia on its way to Djibouti but Uganda wants the pipeline for herself on its way to Kenyan ports.

It looks like Uganda won this battle so far.

Image
Uganda's vision backed by Kenya

Each country wants not only charge the more inland country for them to access a port but crude following through the same pipeline will reduce overall cost for each country.

Then Ethiopia is forced to cut her losses in Gambella and secretly arm and influence the Nuer. It is very risky undertaking because the Nuer can turn the arms against her in Gambella.

Then you have Sudan, which sees things similar to Ethiopia's perspective even though it still wants the pipeline to remain. It has stalk in massive land disputed with Ethiopia's Amhara and the dam itself hence why it sits on the border.

Egypt is against Sudan and the Nuer rebels like Uganda. That's why its in Kenya trying to charm Uganda via Nairobi cables.

The Saudis are on the Sudanese and Ethiopian side. It wants to secure herself land in rich agricultural lands in Sudan and Ethiopia and thinks the dam will come handy in future irrigation projects. It wants to push the Nuer out. It wants concession in the land once disputed by Ethiopia and Sudan.

It doesn't care about Egypt's crocodile tears and the issue is bigger than differences in Syria.

Uganda, South Sudan (Dinka), Egypt, Somalia (scared but her interests lay that way) and partially Kenya on one side.

Ethiopia, Somaliland (many Landers including Dahabshiil, Khadar Kodbuur, Omar Aideed already invested in Abay Dam), KSA, UAE, Sudan and the Nuer rebels on another.

Very interesting.

WINNERS AND LOSERS:

PIPELINE : UGANDA/KENYA WIN
DAM: ETHIOPIA/SUDAN WIN
KSA WINS.

SOUTH SUDAN TO REMAIN FAILED STATE ALONG WITH SOMALIA (two proxy grounds).

BIGGEST LOSER: EGYPT, it can't secure base or alliance with Sudan, the most crucial access point. South Sudan is not reliable. The Nuer can depose the Dinka. Egypt cannot get bases in Somaliland or Djibouti or even Eritrea as squeezed out by Gulf states whose concern is Iran/Shia not some dam in Africa.

MAJOR WINNER: ETHIOPIA, by the time Abay dam is inaugurated, Ethiopia will unveil close to 10 new dams all to be completed before 2025. It will be difficult to keep up with Addis Ababa and make an issue of each and everyone of them.

SOMALILAND: WINS (UAE DEVELOPMENT/BASE)

OAf, walaal this Amxaar wanna be doesnt know shit about Ethiopia. I have very good news, for all of us freedom loving folks in the Horn of Africa. The Egyptians have finally decided to work with the gallant ONLF after exhausting all other avenues and doing some extensive study on all the political groupings in the horn. The Egypt of Al-Sisi is determined to crush the TPLF led government in Ethiopia and will stop at nothing in achieving that. They have proposed everything needed to ONLF. Convergence of interest. This Amxaar wanna be bicth always likes to stick so called Somaliland in to every story. In his stupid brain there is a country called 'Somaliland' but to the rest of the mankind there is just no such thing!

The Nuer are the largest ethnic group in Gambella making something like almost 50% of the population and are followed by the Anuak (almost 30%). The rest are Amhara, Oromo and other minority groups.

Atse Menelik II conquered the region during his campaigns against Jimma and Kaffa Oromo kingdoms.

The Nuer are fierce fighters who are hated by all because like the Somalis they are nomadic dwellers but their primary source of income is livestock, thousands and thousands of cattle. They often loot or get looted by their rivals including the Murle and Dinka.

The Anuak on the other hand are agriculturalist and pretty peaceful.

Look at that small brain Cagdheer above me. He has no idea as his people never had any idea about anything. The Ras can master what Cagdheer can't comprehend 130 years of colonisation in 13 hours.

El Sisi cannot free you and ONLF long died. Al Sisi has no allies in the region and the Abay Dam will go up and empower the enemies of Egypt and brain dead Cagdheer. Sleep on that motha fokka.

The great dam is 42% complete. It is great chapter in African development.

Egypt committed its biggest political blunder when it supported Assad vs Saudi Arabia and voted with Russia on the resolution that was brought against Assad regime in UNSC. Russia would've vetoed it, so why opposed it if her vote didn't matter anyway. They could've simply sit on the sidelines just like Sudan. Well, repercussions were very severe. Not only did they lose over $20 billion USD of Saudi Arabia's aid, but Saudi Arabia got them where it hurts:The dam project in Ethiopia. Saudis are now investing in that project.

Contrary to what some said about the South Sudanese situation, there are no clear winners in the South Sudan conflict, as Egypt and Uganda are supporting the government, and Ethiopia and others are supporting the opposition. The conflict is also not settled, so to declaring a winner is just too premature.

Gegiroor, how is ur post relevant to the subject at hand? Im confused! What are you trying to imply? People I know personally are now being trained in Egypt, with some of the most sophisticated weapons of war known to Africa. This time the Egyptians realised who needs other Somalis when you can get ONLF. They willnot be disappointed. ONLF has taught Ethiopia an unforgettable lesson while solely relying on their Camelmilk and the $10 contributions of their diaspora, in a hostile environment, where ever you look in the horn of afrika. You can imagine what they can accomplish with Egyptian support. This time things will be different. P.S: Egypt is a real state but Saudi is an artificial entity with no history. Stop comparing Apple and Orange
