How to negotiate for Salary

Guys,

I applied for Daycare School teacher in 2 Somali daycare centers. I was offered the job at both places but there is a huge wage difference even though its the same job. Ironically, its the bigger daycare that offered the less money.

Her is what they offered:

1) The bigger day care Mon-Wed- $12/hr
2) The smaller daycare Friday-Sun- $15/hr

The most of the places offer daycare $14/hr to daycare teachers and $11-12/hr for the catering mothers/baby sitters.

Should I reject the $12/hr job and tell him you are paying under the market rate or go in, show the what I can do for 2 months and then ask them to match the market rate or I leave. Ofcourse I will not accept $2/hr less for doing the same job as my colleagues for too long.

I am a teacher at the daycare center. 90% of the kids that come to the daycare are from Illetrates parents who do not speak English or have gone to school. I help them with homework and after school tutoring so that they can catch up with other kids. All I will do is seat in class with punch of kids and keep them in order and help them with homeworker.

Since they have offered the job, tell them you would like to accept but there is another company offering you the higher rate. Then ask them if they are willing to increase to $15/hr as it is also closer to the market rate and sell your skills explaining why you deserve it.

Make sure you are negotiating with the person who will be your line manager and not the actual company boss.

This reminds me of the company that was paying me below the market rate. I didn't leave before advising them to increase staff salaries, I was like deuces lol
