Dress & behave like the local Somalis, so not to arouse an aria of someone from the West (which could be disadvantageous). When it's dark, do not carry objects like a digital camera in your hand. Try to be less obvious. Eastleigh is a nice place; there are some fine Somali restaurants. If you like playing chess, St. John's is the place.

Nairobi was nice...............before all the qoxootis arrived. Funny thing is, the city even became hotter with the arrival of all the somali qoxootis. Laughing

Navy9, Nairobi is such a beautiful place like the rest of Kenya. Things you should remember:

Avoid the Eastleigh market, it is like suqa Bakaaraha unless you’re really homesick and want more contact with Somalis.
Make sure you bargain with everyone, even the taxi drivers otherwise you’ll pay more than you should.
Avoid matatus (busses), unless you’re indifferent to shiir and overcrowding. The ones to Eastleigh are abit better and have good music, but perverted conductors.
Almost all Kenyans speak good English, so no need to speak like you’re speaking to a dumb person.

You can find almost everything in Nairobi, it depends on what you’re into.
You could:
Visit the nearby very magnificent wildlife parks, lakes etc.
Go to watch boxing matches and live concerts
Go shopping in the town.
Go to a restaurant – eat nyama choma (barbequed beef) not bad!
Go to amusement parks, cultural shows and trade fairs.

Again, it really all depends on how much money you’re planning to spend and what you’re into. There have been recent riots and civil unrest due to the manifesto but am sure there will be no major problems. Unlike Somalis, Kenyans are very patriotic, nationalistic and have no clan system although they are a very heterogeneous community, with diverse cultures, languages and colours.

Although I haven’t been there for ages, Nairobi is where it’s at, you’ll love it. Oh, and don’t be too shocked to see many very poor people, the gap between the rich and poor is very wide like most African countries. Enjoy you’re visit and don’t forget to get vaccinated before you hit the plane. Smile

I think you should avoid Nairobi as much as you could, Mombassa is the place to be, or even Malindi.

Nairobi has taken crime into new levels, even worse than Mooryaans in Mogadishu, ppl get killed for a simple cell phone or the suspicion of having one which later results the famous adage "Bahati Mbaya" or bad luck. The fukken addoon baboons use bangas and machetes to chop your hand and remove the watch and ring or your head in some cases to remove the necklace and earings. Sanitation is unheard of in Nairobi and the trash-piles are the heights of mountains, sewages are not covered and you could see the fufu feces on the side walks, roads in Eisleigh are not paved and when it rains, it turns into Afgoye.

Mombassa however, is a different story, totally the opposite of everything Nairobi is

Luggoyo, nayaa beenta iskadhaaf. Or maybe you're talking about the shantytown you used to live in. Very Happy

Mombasa is older than Nairobi, lovely beaches and architecture. But not as lively as Nairobi. Btw, no one has ever chopped anyone's head with a panga in Nairobi. Smile Don't scare them Luggoyo, mdanganyifo wewe.

Which letter of "SIR" did you missed when you are addressing me with Naayaa, or you just messing with me?

If you wanna advertsie Nairobi, there are other ways to do it but I won't let you deceive my friend Navy into that City-turned-slum. Maybe you are talking about the Nairobi b4 the walendo
