We don't necessarily require a stronger diplomatic relationship with the sand niggas' of the UAE - there is nothing they can offer us. Their current involvement in Somali affairs is an exploitation. If they want to make a financial investment in the ports of Bosaso and Berbera - they are welcome. However NO military base especially not in the statelet of Somaliland and especially not in this transitional period and instability. When the Somali government resumes control of the entire country and a relative stability is achieved then why not - only if they're willing to pay 200M a year (it would be a nice lump sum into the treasury).

The U.S is pro the base, the Arabs with the money are for it and Somalia is too poor and weak to do anything about it. That is game,set, and match .

i heard they send Somalia UAE ambassador to Somalia his job was to convince Farmaajo and invite him to come to UAE to get hard cash like HSM he accepted . corrupting African leaders is the job of UAE, when he comes back you will hear all developments berbera bosaso are welcome like HSM.

The base is good for us, farmaajo is not against the base itself but he is against not consulting Mogadishu!!! That's all. It is matter of respect and authority of Mogadishu. If UAE showed respect back to him and let farmaajo signed the approval (theoretically) it will all be good.

Yes the fat guy signed and HSM approved but under the table not in the day light. UAE must show respect to Somali president. It is matter of Somalia 's dignity and reminder to SL that Somalia has the last say in the matter. Guys it is about our national dignity
